Excellent card. Works well. Simple to install. Drivers available at distributor WEB site. (Windows 7 also had a driver). HINT: Many people suffer, as I was, from wireless connections that continually drop out or are slow. Mostly, this is due to interference from other wireless transmitters. If you live in an apartment, you can see perhaps dozens of connections. However, the interference is almost entirely on the 2.4 GHz band. There is almost nothing at 5 GHz. This card supports both. So: 1) get this card. 2) get a wireless router for your home that supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz. 3) Connect ONLY to the 5 GHZ network from your router and 4) set the properties for the driver (Windows Properties dialog box), so that the card ONLY works at 5 GHZ. The interference disappears. The connection is solid, fast, and reliable.

I have an old Dell I-1564 laptop that I decided to try with the Ubuntu Linux OS in place of the original Windows 7 OS. The conversion worked well, but the original WiFi card would not work. After some research, I decided to try the AR9280 as a low cost replacement. Installation was straightforward and, much to my delight (and surprise), when I turned the laptop on, it immediately found my wireless network. Given the inherent limitations of a machine this old, I don't think a more advanced WiFi card would have provided better overall performance. I am very satisfied with this product.

I have an Asus laptop. The wireless connection was never strong. It took a long time to hook up. Then my wifi stopped showing up on the available list on my computer unless I was right next to the router so I thought I would try a new wireless card. The card came right away and was super easy to install. Now my laptop works wirelessly from anywhere in the house! It's great!

It's cheap and it works well. I've noticed a few oddities though.

1) It doesn't seem to perform any better or worse with or without antennas attached. I find this suspicious.
2) The 5GHZ band is not available in Access Point or Direct Connect modes. So you can't use this to act as a 5ghz router.

Downloaded proper drivers and installed this into my laptop, correct colored wires went to the proper spots and it's performance was extremely low.

I am not too far from my router, was using the 5ghz frequency and my speeds were very erratic. My modem speeds are 60 Down and 4 Up. My router on my old WiFi card before it gave out worked at those speeds constantly.

This card would get anywhere from 5-25 Down and not more than 1.5 Up. Latencies were extremely high as well.

Basically, this unit dramatically underperformed compared to what it should have been able to do.

8/18/16: Installed on my Gateway NE56r34u laptop because old chip seemed unresponsive. Tried unplugging and replugging but it still didn't work so I got this card hoping it would work but I still can't get the wifi switch on my laptop to turn on. I'm going to downgrade and see if that might be the problem. If it works or not I'll update the review.

UPDATE 9/20/16: The program was something with my laptop not the wireless card. I did a full restore on my laptop wiped the hard drive and reinstalled windows and it fixed the issue. So yes this card does work now and it supports hosted networks which is a great plus. The download speeds are fast and I would use it in my new laptop if it took the same type of card. Great product.

Works great with Hackintoshes! Tonymacx86 website advised me to get a mini-ITX motherboard with a Wifi PCIe card even though the motherboard does not have a PCIe slot... -_-.

It DOES have a Mini PCIe slot so another user on the forum directed me to this product and I have to admit that I am very impressed! I have not tested it with Windows, but in OS X it worked right natively (like the TP Link TL-WDN4800) and was seen as an airport card.

For my motherboard, which came with a wifi Mini PCIe card that was not compatible with OS X, I had to remove that and throw this in in its place.

After throwing this in, do NOT forget to attach the antennas or else you won't have any internet!
