Acer Aspire One AOA150 ZG5 Wireless WiFi Finally working with Windows 10
After installing Windows 10 on my "old" Acer netbook... it appeared everything was working fine until I noticed my wireless stopped working. Per Device Manager by Intel WiFi Link 5300 was installed but not recognized. I disassembled the machine, removed the 5300 and installed an Intel WiFi Link 5100. No Good. I then tried a Intel 4965AG MM1, still no luck. It was only after visiting the Intel website I learned that Intel did not write and Windows 10 drivers for any of their older WiFi cards. Intel makes newer cards but which one will work? Only after hours of research and reading plenty forums and reviews did I settle on this card.NET: It works great with Windows 10... Piece of Cake!NOTE: Because this is a half / Mini PCIe card you will need to get one of these Half to Full Height Mini PCI Express(PCI-E) Card Adapters for proper installation when replacing a full size card.

I have an old Dell I-1564 laptop that I decided to try with the Ubuntu Linux OS in place of the original Windows 7 OS. The conversion worked well, but the original WiFi card would not work. After some research, I decided to try the AR9280 as a low cost replacement. Installation was straightforward and, much to my delight (and surprise), when I turned the laptop on, it immediately found my wireless network. Given the inherent limitations of a machine this old, I don't think a more advanced WiFi card would have provided better overall performance. I am very satisfied with this product.

Excellent card. Works well. Simple to install. Drivers available at distributor WEB site. (Windows 7 also had a driver). HINT: Many people suffer, as I was, from wireless connections that continually drop out or are slow. Mostly, this is due to interference from other wireless transmitters. If you live in an apartment, you can see perhaps dozens of connections. However, the interference is almost entirely on the 2.4 GHz band. There is almost nothing at 5 GHz. This card supports both. So: 1) get this card. 2) get a wireless router for your home that supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz. 3) Connect ONLY to the 5 GHZ network from your router and 4) set the properties for the driver (Windows Properties dialog box), so that the card ONLY works at 5 GHZ. The interference disappears. The connection is solid, fast, and reliable.

It's cheap and it works well. I've noticed a few oddities though.

1) It doesn't seem to perform any better or worse with or without antennas attached. I find this suspicious.
2) The 5GHZ band is not available in Access Point or Direct Connect modes. So you can't use this to act as a 5ghz router.

8/18/16: Installed on my Gateway NE56r34u laptop because old chip seemed unresponsive. Tried unplugging and replugging but it still didn't work so I got this card hoping it would work but I still can't get the wifi switch on my laptop to turn on. I'm going to downgrade and see if that might be the problem. If it works or not I'll update the review.

UPDATE 9/20/16: The program was something with my laptop not the wireless card. I did a full restore on my laptop wiped the hard drive and reinstalled windows and it fixed the issue. So yes this card does work now and it supports hosted networks which is a great plus. The download speeds are fast and I would use it in my new laptop if it took the same type of card. Great product.
Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2015
Downloaded proper drivers and installed this into my laptop, correct colored wires went to the proper spots and it's performance was extremely low.

I am not too far from my router, was using the 5ghz frequency and my speeds were very erratic. My modem speeds are 60 Down and 4 Up. My router on my old WiFi card before it gave out worked at those speeds constantly.

This card would get anywhere from 5-25 Down and not more than 1.5 Up. Latencies were extremely high as well.

Basically, this unit dramatically underperformed compared to what it should have been able to do.

Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2015
Card would not enable on my laptop. Installed and drivers loaded fine, device manager even said "device working properly" but it would not turn on. Windows 8.1 greyed out the wi-fi toggle and would not enable the card. Spent about six hours troubleshooting to no avail. Even updated my bios- still nothing. Popped back in my old card and wi-fi works again. It's an Acer and does not have a whitelist, so that wasn't the issue- have to chock it up to a bad card. I give it two stars because obviously others haven't had this problem, so one would be a bit harsh.

UPDATE:
Ordered a different card (Intel based) and had the same problem. This led to round 2 of troubleshooting and figured out it was a motherboard issue. Needed to mask pin #20 on the card to trick the motherboard into thinking it was "on". So I revised this review up to 4 stars as it was not a problem with the card, but my Acer laptop.
