Don't knock a great product unless you have used it. I have used my X-Jack in the bush twice now, to recover Land Cruisers that inadvertently went into bogs in seemingly firm riverbeds in north-western Namibia. It is worth every penny and no one seem to complain about lugging it around anymore. The tricks for successful use are: 1) get it under the car quickly before your chassis sinks out of sight, 2) use more padding than ARB provides and place it properly to prevent punctures, 3) have someone increase the revs on the engine while you hold the fill hose to the exhaust pipe so it will fill quickly, and 4) have your fill materials and shovels ready to go, and 5) as always the case, never get under the vehicle and bring a shovel with a handle of proper length to clear the chassis. Deflate and remove before moving vehicle. Extra hands pushing, or a second vehicle pulling from a safe distance, are a good plan. If possible, back out over your existing tracks.

I use this with my customer Early Bronco (1972) This is far more useful and less cumbersome than the high lift jack I had been using. Occasionally the capabilities of my rig get me in to areas that require this. ***Note it is never my fault that I get stuck :) But I have used this a few times where the winch and snatch gear would take too long to set up or the high lift jack just sorta sinks or is a bit unstable. This conforms to any surface that I have run across or run into to (again NOT my fault) and makes recovery a cinch.

So if you are like me and sometimes you get stuck due to someone else being at fault this is a great way to get yourself our of trouble and is often MUCH faster than traditional winch and if used in combo with a winch you are nearly stuck proof. Easy to use and set up and as long as your vehicle is still running you are good to go.

And while it isn't advertised to do this you just may be able to use it to help tip your vehicle back over if you have somehow rolled over or tipped over in to a crevice. Again not my fault. :)

I ordered this product after EXTENSIVE research conducted over nearly a year. I could not find a single negative commentary or remark about it. I watched every video I could and asked for thoughts from those who have used it. I finally took the plunge and bought one. I tested it three times in the safety of my property. The first use took over an hour to fill using the exhaust. The second time I used the air compressor in my garage. It filled fast but the vehicle wobbled alot while up and the jack only lifted it about 4 inches. On the third attempt I used the air compressor to fill it once again. The jack rolled, the truck dropped and I gave up. If you are going to use this in soft sand I say take the leap. Anyplace else? Use a different tool.
