If you want a great closed loop solution that will fit almost any video card from the last 5 years, this is it. However if you're looking for something plug and play, you're SOL.
This thing stays quiet and keeps my gpu at ambient temps idle, 26-29C, when really pushing my gtx680 it gets to around 60C, and that is after hours of hard gaming. Worth the time it took to install, I like quiet computers and this cooler is waaay quieter than the hair dryer that came with my 680. A must buy if you have the tech know how and the patience.
The hardest part was installing the heatsink on the back, Maybe I misplaced the cooling pads but the heatsink didnt exactly fit the card, the claps used to hold it down bulged and I had to leave one off so I could fit it into the PCI express slot.
The fan is very quite, even at 1300 RPM (fastest setting)
Temps before with reference cooler: 94C and major throttling.
Temps after water cooler install: 57C max with cooler fan set to 100%
Temps using water cooler with recommended fan curve: 68C @ 50% max fan speed.
Oh and I have my card OC'd to 1050 core and 1400 memory. This is valid for all of the above results. Im sure the temps would be lower if I left it at stock clocks.
My case is a midtower and already could hardly fit the R9 290 so I knew any aftermarket fan cooler wouldnt fit, Thus I went with this option. It certainly does what it is designed to do and allows guaranteed OC'ing headroom.
R9 290 VisonTek reference from eBay: $220
Water cooler : $120
Total cost : $340 for better than GTX 780 performance and guaranteed cool temps.
Significantly reduces the GPU temperature on some video cards compared to the stock fans.
The supplied fan runs quieter than some stock fans and plugs directly into the GPU fan controller on the video card, allowing for fan curve control via software.
The rear heat sink plate is a nice addition to this model of the Arctic Accelero Hybrid cooler because it successfully draws out heat from the voltage regulator and VRAM chips.
The video card can be reverted to its original state with no lasting marks, thus preserving its warranty.
For optimal cooling, the plastic insert separating the back of the video card from the heat sink plate needs to be cut so that the back of the VRAM and voltage regulator chips are exposed. As you need to use a sharp knife or scalpel to do this, care must be taken to avoid injury (or ruining the plastic insert).
The thermal pads can damage small components on the back of the card if the heat sink plate is over tightened.
On some PC cases, the supplied mounting rail doesn't line up properly and may prevent other PCI/AGP devices from being secured correctly.
I use this on my EVGA GeForce GTX770 2GB Super Clocked ACX and it works brilliantly (using 2 x 120 mm after market fans in push-pull configuration). In a room with an ambient temperature of ~80F while playing Assassin's Creed 4 BF on highest settings, my GPU temperature doesn't climb above 46C. The stock ACX fans couldn't keep the GPU below 60C under the same conditions. The end result from my experience was that I was able to play a newer game with visual settings set slightly higher than what my card's optimum threshold was (according to the NVIDIA GeForce Experience) with no noticeable lag or visual distortions. My only contention was that the thermal compound supplied with the cooler had the consistency of putty, thus being unusable (although this could have just been an exception, or lemon). Am very pleased with the results overall. 4/5
NOTE: an option for optimizing the performance capabilities of this liquid cooler is to replace the fan that comes with it with 2 higher rated 120 mm fans. Since most PWM 120 mm fans don't come with mini GPU connectors, a "Mini 4-pin GPU to 2 x 4-pin PWM Fan Adapter" might be required so that they can be plugged into a single fan controller slot on the video card.

I would have given it a 2 stars for being too complicated to install, not that I mind the challenge but I don't see the point of making it so...Read more
