Just check out the features listed below to find out why this regulator is perfect for you to use with your welder. Please note: This is the same regulator that we include with our Rand TIG welders. We have sold hundreds of these units and have had nothing but great responses to their performance! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The features of this new welding set include: •Brand New RAND Argon / CO2 regulator and flow meter. •The body of this heavy duty regulator is all solid forged brass construction to last a lifetime. •The flow column is viewable from all sides, and is made from a super durable polycarbonate material that is almost indestructable. •Perfect for use with all types of MIG and TIG welders. •It works with both Argon and CO2. •It reads pressure in both PSI AND kPa. •Easily monitor your gas tank/bottle pressure from 0 to 4000 psi. •Easily adjust your gas flow rate with the built-in flow meter. The flow meter measures gas flow in liters per minute (l/min) up to 25 l/min. •It fits all standard gas tanks/bottles. •The inlet to the regulator features a sintered bronze filter to stop gas impurities from entering the regulator. •The maximum inlet pressure is 4000psi, or 270 bar. •It includes a 1/4" hose barb to connect the gas supply to your welder. (If you need to, you can easily change the hose barb to a different size, or adapt your hose to fit it.) Note: Some types of CO2 bottles may require an adapter. You simply can't afford to pass up this awesome Rand Regulator...not with all these features!!!

I am a novice/hobby welder with a small shop. This regulator was purchased because I didn't feel the need to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a "conversion kit" for my lincoln welder. I bought all the parts separately for roughly one quarter the price! But back to the regulator, it adjusts smoothly, does not leak and holds a constant flow rate. Am I missing something? was I supposed to spend a ludicrous amount of money on another product that does the same thing? Would I buy it again? Yes. Will I need to? Don't know, but at this price I can buy two or three as backups without coming close to the price of "name brand" flow meters. Hope this helps. BTW I've been using it for about 6 months now with no issues even when the shop is cold (30-40 degrees, brrr time to fire up the wood stove).
UPDATE 6/9/16

Still works. No problems. Buy it if you need it.

Bought this to replace a flowmeter I got for free with the mig welder I bought. Thought it would be nicer than the free one. It leaks pretty badly, and I cant find the leak..... I left it on one night and the next day I had lost a few 100 lbs of gas. My "free" one will hold pressure for days.....

As mentioned by a different reviewer, this regulator is advertised as a "Rand" brand. However, when it arrived, mine had no brand name, or country of origin printed on it anywhere.

Another reviewer mentioned that the threads on the outlet side of the regulator were not standard for the connectors normally found on MIG welders - neither were mine. There was a brass barb fitting screwed into the threaded outlet of the gauge.

In order to get the gauge to work with the gas line fitting on my welder, I had to turn the barbed end of the fitting off with a lathe, bore out the remaining threaded end of the fitting, then tap it for a standard thread size. I was then able to screw an adapter onto the modified fitting, that my welder gas line would fit.

I have not used the regulator as of yet, however, I did install it on my tank and turned it on to make sure it worked. During that 5 second test, it appeared to work normally.

The rating given is the result of the item not being the name brand advertised, and the fact that the threaded outlet is not the size or thread type found on the gas lines on gas shielded welders in the US.

got the flowmeter and all looked well till tried to attach to gas cylinder and found the threaded nut diameter was not that of a CGA 580 valve but more like a CGA 500. should have been .960 dia. but was .890 . Now I have to find the right nut for the connector nipple. The rest of the meter is fine but now I have the added cost of additional parts. No invoice sent with the meter . Was also supposed to be a Rand but they sent an Ancheer instead. Would have been nice if I had gotten exactly what I had ordered!!!!! Will not use that company again!!!

If you need to monitor your gas flow for tig welding or just for back purging. It's the most economical way to do the job.

For the price, this regulator can't be beat. It is easy to attach and made solidly of brass. The only caveat is the plastic lens on the needle gauge pops off easily.
