The reason this is 4 stars and not 5 is because of the lack of progress or advancement in the storyline. We are still ver near to where we were in the last book. Sure there were some developments but not nearly as much as you would expect after completing an entire book. While I really enjoyed it due to my love of the overall story, concept and characters I was left feeling like this one either stalled out or it was a bit of bilking the series for another book.
On the positive though, i feel that the authors may have been somewhat cognizant of this due to the follow up novel coming out so soon afterwards. Perhaps it was just that the story was going to be rushed as just one book and so they had to stretch it out with a bit of filler. With the next book coming out we'll hopefully get the resolution we are looking for.
Don't get me wrong, great book, just less satisfying than previous books.
Alpha Group is totally Awesome !! It's hard to say who I liked best. Juice, Handon, Ali, Homer, and Pred !!!
You become so involved with these characters that when something happens to one of them you feel for them. You learn a great deal about Special Ops, different weapons, the heart of our Country's and England's Best of the Best of the Best to help us survive the end of the world. They are well trained people who put it on the line in conditions most of us would just give up and die in.
I can't wait for book number 9 to come out and will get the prequels while I'm waiting. I have found two new author's that I like and will search out other books by them, and look forward to reading them. I don't like to tell about the books I read because it spoils it for people who have yet to read them. I hope everyone gets these books. They are really good stories, really good characters except for a really bad guy living alone way far away - he will be back.....Oh No !!!!
I hope everyone enjoys these books as much as I have they rock it in the book world !!!
These books have everything you look for in a good book. Kind people, bad people, in-charge people, scared people, hero's.....on and on must read these books.....
The JFK is still afloat and steaming for Somalia where Alpha has a mission.
The human crew and Alpha are still alive after the attack by the dead was foiled with that slippery foam. The dead are all over the side and the crew is doing its best to get things back to as normal as they can.
Drake, the XO and commander of the boat is still headed for Somalia but decides they need to stop at Sanaha to look for supplies. They are low on ammo and most of the ships defenses are down. They need supplies badly. Only problem is that when they reach port there is a top of the line Russian battleship already anchored there.
The JFK hails the Russian ship but gets no response. What they do get are missiles launched at them.
So begins one damned fine read.
This one has Handon, Drake, Abrams, Homer, Lt. Campbell, a Juice who has things to think about, Pred, Hennon, Ali, Dr. Park, Professor Close, Sarah, fighter jocks, Wesley, his team and his war dog Judy, Gunny Fick, CentCom in Britain under attack by the dead, a bioengineer named Aliyev who engineered the plague and is now looking for a way to kill the dead, Anderson who's about to turn and will be a guinea pig for Park and Close who are working on a cure, Spetsnaz, a raid by Juice, his electronics and his team of marines meeting Spetsnaz operators in a warehouse full of provisions, Homer looking for Spetsnaz divers under the JFK and one well written story full of heroism, smarts and the crew and Alpha fighting for their lives.
Five Stars and then some.
