Product Description

The RM0861420 C-clamp camera mounting pedestal is part of Arkon’s Robust Mount Series and is compatible with all cameras with the standard 1/4”-20 camera mounting pattern, including those from Nikon, Sony, Samsung, Canon, Fujifilm, Olympus, Panasonic, and Pentax. This package includes the Heavy-Duty C-Clamp Mounting Pedestal with a 1/4”-20 Camera Mounting Bolt. The tough, low-vibration pedestal measures approximately 5 inches high (not including the holder or clamp), and is made of a combination of plastic and glass fiber. Install the C-clamp base on a desk, cart, worktable, bench, lectern, or other table-like surfaces. The C-clamp maintains a firm grip and opens as wide as 2.25 inches and closes as tight as .25 inches. The arm of the pedestal swivels on both the top and the bottom, providing 360-degree rotation and the ultimate flexibility in positioning the camera at any angle. Simply screw the camera’s 1/4”-20 mounting pattern onto the mount’s 1/4”-20 mounting bolt and position the mount and camera as needed by loosening or tightening the side adjustment knob.

I use this device when mounting my camera to picnic tables, fences at National Parks, etc to steady the camera against my body movements causing blurry photos when zoomed out. I got the idea for using this from a friend of mine in Alaska (Sean In Alaska on YouTube). He was trying to shoot photos of Mt. Redoubt from an observation area. He was trying to shoot time lapse sunset photos but the wind kept blowing the his tripod over, ruining his shoot. I sent him one of these devices, and I have one also. That immediately resolved that problem. I have used my attaching to fences to shoot video when I drop trees or cuts limbs, and for other videography for my YouTube channel (The Lone Moose). The opening for the clamp can be expanded to 3.5" (width of a 4x4).

I hate clutter on my desk. So a mic stand on my desk wasn't cutting it. Also, with the longer (arm) microphone desk mounts, I always felt like my mic got in my frame during conferencing and I was also futher away than I wanted to be. I had this particular mount for a couple of months before I realized that the 1/20" would fit my Yeti Nano. This setup is pure perfection. I just half turn the bolt underneith my desk and slide it towards me when the meeting starts and I'm right above the mic so my voice is going directly into it. When I'm done, just half turn the lever again and slide this mount off to the side.
Also, the side adjustment clamp allowes you to position the mic in almost any desired angle you'd want. Overall, wherever you decide to clamp this you'll find that it is exteremly sturdy. This is seriously one of the best items I've ever bought on Amazon. For this price it is a no-brainer. I'm not sure if they sell knock-offs but I wouldn't chance it. This is totally worth the price and I highly recommend it.

Did a interstitial test of this mount with a T3i and a battery pack while I wait for a Sony a5100 to be delivered. No sag or dropping! Left it like this for a week. All ok.

And, the padding on the inside helps to negate scratching. Just a super useful tool to have in your kit for anything heavier than a smart phone or GoPro.

This seems to be sturdier than Pedco clamp I use. It has thicker parts, which seems more robust and in some instances seems better than some RAM mount products. I'm currently using this to mount a camcorder for use at bridal shows where I can mount it high and then be able to show a live video feed of what's going on the stage since we're usually backstage behind a wall or partition or pipe and drape. While the camcorder we use is a standard consumer camcorder and thus relatively light, I'm sure it could handle something heavier like a mirrorless camera or even DSLR. When tightened, it doesn't appear to have any give at all. Recommended.

I bought this to attach to a bookcase in my office to film a project for university. It arrived promptly, and the build quality is amazing. i don't own a big heavy slr but i can say this works much better for my iphone and compact digital camera than the less expensive phone tripods out there. the clamp is beefy and the ball mechanism easily handles the combined weight of my encased iphone7 plus ulanzi metal bracket in any angle i've asked of it so far. a great investment for situations where one has the proper place to clamp this product.

Funciona bien en cámaras ligeras, lo uso con una canon vixia y sin problemas pero cuando le monté una canon 70D con lente sigma 17-55mm que es algo pesada, batallé en ajustarla y sentí que no estaba tan segura y con riesgo de girar y golpearse. El material es de acero en la abrazadera a la mesa pero de plástico grueso el cuerpo del soporte y siento que con mucha presión puede quebrarse o aflojarse para ya no funcipnar. Considero que si fuera de aluminio u otro material fuera más seguro. En general se siente el soporte pesado y no de mala calidad pero tampoco de la mejor.

I am using 3 of these to mount camcorders for live streaming. They hold the cameras well, and the clamp is adjustable to account for wide variance of thicknesses.

They give the most adjustability if you can aim the clamp towards the subject or in an upright manner on a table top. If you have to clamp it sideways, the ball joint has less movement to work with.

The only difficulty I had with it is that I had to aim the camera a little high in order for it to be aimed properly when the clamp was tightened. I'm sure that is a pretty common occurrence when working with a ball joint. Otherwise, it has been holding a small Canon camcorder very well for weeks without any movement.
