I own this beutiful guitar and have had it for a week now. I bought it as a back up for giging with, and it has quickly moved to the forefront. it has really versitile tonal control. the pickups are outstanding. better than 1200.00 tele's by far. it seems as though leo fender and his reputation are making a statement with this guitar and its high quality. sound finish and quality make this an outstanding buy for the money. cost was not really an issue for me since i had my heart set on a US telecaster. after trying on of these i was sold. instantly impressed by the neck and the sound. blows fender tele out of the water. main reason is i played about 6 us tele's some were great and some were not. quality control made the us tele's really hit or miss. all of the g and l guitars i played felt and sounded GREAT! dont take a reviewer for his words, go out and play one. then try a fender counterpart, you'll see for yourself g and l did not cut any corners for their tribute models and their quality control is better. also tribute models have the wood CNC'd in Indonisia, but then they are shipped here to the US for inspection, the US made hardware and the same US made pickups as their more expensive US made lines. overseas fender's come with overseas junk hardware and PUPS. G and L are the way to go and a little secret people are gonna start hearing more about cause they really are great. i've been playing pro for about 15 years now and rarely get excited enough about a guitar to write a review.... you cant even find a semi hallow tele with a humbucker unless you go to a custom shop or squire. fender gives you two options 2500.00$ custom shop or 200.00$ squire. i think this guitar is better than both. happy hunting GO G and L!!!!!!!!!!!

I own this one after I stumbled into it on a consignment sale at $350 without a mark on it. Mine is the orange trans body with gloss and tinted maple neck. As an instrument, it needed minor adjustment to shim the neck pocket with 2 thicknesses of guitar string envelope paper at the pocket rear. That puts the neck at a shallower angle and allows the saddles to rise a tiny bit and make the screws just sink under the barrel tops for comfort and a bit more break angle. After humidifying a new guitar a few days, I will set the relief to 'lefty loosey' it for just a bit of neck relief.

The bridge pickup may need the front edge dropped to reduce the trebly edge. The neck humbucker is OK, but lacks some clarity on the bass side. Adjusting it and polepieces can make it usable until I replace it and install a coil tap with a push/pull tone pot.
Tones are versatile and the middle position is the best. Volume backed off and the tone knob to trim off some treble helps for the bridge and bridge/middle positions.

The guitar itself is very well crafted and the neck is tight in the pocket (removing it to shim the pocket took careful and gentle rocking to remove the heel from the pocket). For most players, leave the adjustments to a luthier/setup guy.
I had a repair guy put in a push/pull tone control to coil tap it. That way, you can have full humbucker or 1 coil only with humbucker alone or combined in the middle switch position (bridge+neck pickup). Cheap, simple, and does not alter the guitar appearance!

This guitar has shiny, fairly big frets and a very nice neck feel. Its about $1000 less than a USA made one. I owned a Tribute S-500 and USA S-500 at the same time once. The difference for most players is not enough to warrant another $1000, in my view.

The G&L Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollow guitar is a terrific product! It is a beautiful instrument that is very comfortable and playable. The semi-hollow body makes a difference, giving the guitar a nice 'full' sound. At the same time, the tonal characteristics are incredibly flexible with the awesome pickups on the guitar. You can easily go from a country 'twang' to a soft jazz tone to a classic rock crunch with a few quick adjustments. Even on a small practice amp this guitar sounds great! It came in perfect condition, although I would have preferred a little more bubble wrap in the box even though it was shipped in a padded gig bag. I strongly recommend this G&L guitar!
