In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

16 months later: barring winter months, i.e., 12 months of daily wear, these shoes have proved to be very comfortable. The tops are wearing out now. A first rate value for the money (about 100 U.S. dollars for the whitish color, which simply maintaining cleanliness leaves them with a dingy appearance-not a particular concern of mine. With these shoes and proper exercise, my planters fasciitis has not reaccured.
Wow, these shoes are fantastic! I put them on and immediately ran a 5k. The difference between these and my old shoes (which were, admittedly, probably 10 years old) was like night and day. These fit and cushion so well that my feet barely felt tired after the 5k. I've never had a pair of shoes that I could just put on and immediately start using like that before. I've now been running 5k's 2-3 times per week for the month since I got them, and feel the price was well worth them helping me get back into it again.
I'm mostly writing to say that I wear a size 11.5 in most shoes but had to get a 12 with this. I also had to get 4E instead of my normal 2E. I usually get Asics' Cumulus, and with the Cumulus 15, I wore a 11.5.
Update: I ran about 350 miles in these over the course of a year, and they held up as well as you can expect. I was a little worried about the soft rubber on the bottoms, but they didn't seem to wear out any faster than other shoes.
