In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

Shoe came on time, with tags stating gel cushioning. Not sure if there was any gel used or solyte compound used in the midsole....they were not stated on the shoe at all.
As the name suggest, it was really a light shoe. No doubts about that.
The width was slightly narrow (compared to normal asics running shoes). Size is true.
The rubber logo by the side made the fit secure. Lateral support is good.
The cushion of the sole and the material around the feet is lacking. Too thin and doesnt feel cushy. I'm not sure if there is any gel in the midsole.
The design and colour (black) is cool and it came with black and grey laces.
Traction for the badminton rubber court was not good. Less than ideal.
I will not recommend this for people who:
1) are using this for semi-pro badminton,
2) are looking for a cushy feel,
3) have wide feet.
I bought them as size 10.5 and they seem just a bit longer than I was expecting. I don't know if it's because the other 10.5 shoes I have aren't quite the right size, but I haven't measured my feed in a long time, so I can't say if the size is accurate or not. I do agree with some reviews that they feel a bit narrow. During the break-in period, the right shoe pressed against the left side of my ankle so much that my feet would be bleeding. Of course, playing volleyball for 3 hours a night on consecutive nights compounded the problem.
Now that they are broken in though, they are excellent. They grip the floor quite well and they perform as good as I've experienced with any pair of court shoes before. They don't feel extremely cushioned, but I don't mind that at all. They are pretty light, which is always a good thing with athletic shoes. I'd definitely recommend them for volleyball, but haven't tried them with other court sports. I play at an intermediate to low power level, if that helps anyone in their decision making.
I play fierce racquetball so I wear the insides out. Orthodics help but this shoe fts in every way.
The construction is solid and well thought out. The shoe is narrow and suits feet, toes and heel.
They are light and the price is quite fair.
Thanks to Asics for fitting these orphan feet.
i am sure 100$ shoes would be better, but $50 is good enough for me, i am in my 40ies , play about 3-4 times a month.
They are a bit big in the toe area, but I have wider feet so that isn't unusual.
Sometimes if I don't tie them well my arch might hurt after a long match. I would suggest opting for something more if you play volleyball more competatively. I play on a more recreational level, though I do know the game quite well.
