FluidAxis Technology Promotes Natural Running
The ASICS Men's GEL-Excel33 2 Running Shoe features FluidAxis, a revolutionary new technology that ensures a more responsive and natural running form. Using FluidAxis, the GEL-Excel33 2 allows your foot to freely pronate and supinate while you run. This enables the shoe to respond accurately to the side-to-side movements of your foot, helping promote superior form and comfort.
Propulsion System Enhances Efficiency
The ASICS Men's GEL-Excel33 2 Running Shoe delivers outstanding responsiveness with the Propulsion Trusstic System, which creates tension as your heel strikes the ground and your toes lift off. The Propulsion system works in conjunction with the Impact Guidance System (I.G.S.) to enhance your foot's natural movement. Plus, the shoe's Guidance Line--a vertical flex groove--provides improved efficiency during your runs.
The GEL-Excel33 2 features rear and forefoot GEL cushioning for maximum flexibility and shock absorption.
Stable Support with Lightweight Midsole System
For lightweight support and structural integrity, the GEL-Excel33 2 is made with both Solyte and SpEVA midsole materials. The shoe also incorporates ASICS High Abrasion Rubber (AHAR) into the outsole, ensuring greater strength and durability.
Personalized Fit with Cushioning Features for Comfort
For a custom fit, the GEL-Excel33 2 features P.H.F. (Personalized Heel Fit)--two layers of memory foam around the collar that mold to your heel. The Heel Clutching System provides support while improving fit. For comfort, a ComforDry sockliner cushions your foot and helps prevent odors.

I have just had one run in these shoes, but I have already exceeded my PB that I set more 10 years ago and thought I would never get close again, never mind crush it. And this was after a 2 hour workout earlier in the day. Apart from a little muscle exhaustion, no pains in the back at any stage and I felt I could have gone much further but I had to hold back! I cant believe a shoe could make so much difference - worth every dollar.
Note: the very fine mesh layer on the toe box and heels seems to be there to keep dirt and mud off and looks very fragile. It looks like very fine lightweight threads. I will only use these shoes for dry running and not for other general use which will be too rough on the material. I have other shoes for that. On the bright side, I think the material is otherwise not critical for the structure of the shoe as there seem to be two other more robust layers underneath it but it will look a little ugly when the outer mesh breaks down. But I wont care as my feet love these shoes!
The solyte material is also very resilient and firm, however a softer material sits on top of it and it feels very comfortable (apart from the lack of arch structure) if not more so than my other full gel ASIC shoes which surprised me since this was a concern pre-purchase. The forefoot cushioning was better than any of the full gel shoes I thought.
Went to Europe and Asia with them too.
Still look like a new.
Fantastic sole, great arch support, easy fit, and light.
Regarding size, they are a bit snug (but not too tight), but that may be because I don't have "running" socks.
