The match can shift in a Split Second and ASICS has you prepared to seize the momentum with this performance-driven wrestling shoe. The split sole design keeps you flexible while the tread pattern addresses all your key pivot points so you stick to the mat even under duress. Ample mesh helps keep you cool with the infusion of fresh air flow.
In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

We still had to buy 1 1/2 size up - my son usually wears size 7 sneakers and we ordered 8 1/2s - but he can get the ball of his foot into the shoe and it fits comfortably.
I normally ware men's 13 EE.
Not to expensive $60.00
The toe box was perfect and good ankle support.
Cheaper plastic materials.
Not sure how it will streach out or withstand torque.
I recommend the Dan Gable Ultimate 4 over Split Second 9 because of the superior traction, flex and ankle support (though not as good for wide feet).
If your on a budget, than the split second 9 is a great choice. The Dan Gable also was more of a moccasin style having no actual toe box.
-All the reasons I mentioned above.
- For ppl with flat feet or wide feet, you will find it quite difficult to put these shoes on for the first time.
-You have to be patient. Take time to break these shoes in properly.
-I felt some discomfort in the bottom of my foot when running on the treadmill after going some rounds. However, I am not sure if that slight pain was because these shoes were not made for runing or if my wide feet were not accustomed to wearing such shoes.
In sum, I chose not give these shoes less than a 5 star because the issues I mentioned above (i.e. difficulty putting them on and pain in the bottom of my foot when running) all arise from my odd feet. These shoes are truly great.
The shoe itself is very comfortable right out of the box, and I can get through 2 hours of continuous hard training with no discomfort. The split-sole design is very flexible and light.
Have had shoes for just 1 week and the stitching is already coming loose above the right pinky toe. Downgraded my rating to 2 stars.
