I was looking for a running hat for a couple reasons: First, with the warmer summer weather, I wanted to protect my scalp and face from the sun. Second, when I run I always have the problem of sweat getting in my eyes and, particularly if I'd put on sunblock (even the waterproof/sweatproof kind), it would really sting which is not a fun way to make it through a run. So, I figured the hat would prevent the need for me to put on sunblock (at least above my eyes) and I was hoping that the sweatband on the hat would catch the sweat before it made its way to my eyes. Fortunately, that's exactly what it did. Since I've been wearing this hat, I haven't had to worry about sweat getting in my eyes at all, so it's made my runs a much nicer experience.
One of the things that I was concerned about when buying a hat for running is that heat wouldn't be able to escape from my head, and I'd quickly overheat. Fortunately the fabric is very thin and there's also a mesh strip which extends from the bill of the cap to the top, which adds some nice ventilation, so I never feel like heat is getting trapped on my head.
The only complaint I have is that the headband is not a terry cloth material, as the product description suggests. At least not by my understanding of what terry cloth is. I expected the sort of material that you'd find in a towel, robe, or headband. However, this headband is a fairly typical looking hat headband. A thin liner that goes around the head, similar to most every other cap you see. But certainly not terry. It does what I wanted it to, though, so I can't say that I'm dissatisfied. In fact, I'm very pleased with it.
