In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. Fit great with orthotics

Love these shoes. I wear orthotics, have flat feet, have had 2 bunions removed and several other foot surgeries, and I have a couple of hammer toes.. It's difficult to find shoes that I'm comfortable in for more than just a couple of hours. I bought my usual size.

These are great. Plenty of room for my orthotics and no slipping in the heel. Plenty of cushion between my feet and the floor. I wore them around the house for about an hour then wore them on a 12 hr shift at my job in a hospital where I'm on my feet most of the time.. No pain. No rubbing. No numbness anywhere. I usually wear New Balance but couldn't find the ones I wanted in my size. I'm glad I tried the Asics. I will certainly consider them again.

Addendum: After wearing these for several months during 12 - 13 hour shifts I can still say that I am very happy with these shoes. So far, they show no sign of breaking down. I usually replace shoes every 5 to 6 months for work. These are holding up great. Still no leg pain (which is usually the first sign for me that I need to replace my shoes). This is the first time I've tried Asics in years. Usually I wear New Balance or Nike Pegasus running shoes. The Gel-Nimbus will be on my list to check out the next time I replace my work shoes.

I felt safe ordering these shoes online because I already own the exact same pair and love them, but have completely worn them out. However, even though I was careful to order my new pair in the same size that I had before, the new pair I received was significantly smaller than the old. I might also note that I have owned four other, similar pairs of ASICS as well, and I have always purchased the same size. I was terribly disappointed to throw money away on return shipping, but I had to. I also took the risk of ordering the next half size up. The new, larger sized pair is EXACTLY the same size as my old pair, which is good news for me. The shoestrings in the new pair are also much shorter than those on my previous pair, which is a small annoyance. Different manufacturers perhaps?? However, overall, I'm delighted with the new shoes, which are comfortable, offer great support, and are priced right. I would not have been able to find the same shoes at that price anywhere close to where I live, even factoring in the return shipping. I haven't received a refund yet for the return, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that part of the transaction will go smoothly. I will revisit my rating if doesn't come through soon.

Better than Kayano 19

After being a die hard Asics fan for the last 20 years, and wearing Kayanos exclusively for the past several years, I was super disappointed with my Kayano 19s. I did wear them for the better part of a year, running primarily 3 to 5 miles 4 times a week, but I just never got the walking on clouds feeling from them that I had with all of my older pairs. I was forced outside my comfort zone and tried a pair of Brooks. Aside from really missing the Asics glam and eye appeal, I was in hip to toe pain after one run. So those went back and I decided to try the Nimbus 15 after reading all the reviews. They are less expensive than the Kayano and after my bad experience I just didn't want to shell out that much for something I didn't love again. After 2 runs I am happy with the Nimbus 15. They are more similar to the old styling and give a more cushioned ride. They are not life changing or super cushiony ride I had gotten used to with the Kayano, but overall I'm satisfied and will be wearing this for awhile. Definitely order up at least a half size over your normal shoe size which I have found to be true with all Asics. I have flatter feet with a high in step and had bunion surgery as well as shin challenges and was not sore at all after wearing these the first time.

First pair was great, second pair not great

I ordered one pair of these shoes and they fit perfectly and are wonderfully comfortable. I've had them for a week and have already put more than 20 miles on them. So, I would give this first pair 5 stars. I liked them so much that I ordered a second pair (I rotate two pairs of running shoes at a time).

Unfortunately the second pair (and third, as well), was either manufactured incorrectly or perhaps was from a different, poorly made, batch because the interior of the shoes (both) did not have enough cushioning in the upper toe box and both the left and right shoes rubbed uncomfortably on my baby toes. Upon inspection, it seems that the plastic gray fashion stripe has no cushion beneath it and it hits in just the wrong place on my feet. Fortunately, Amazon has a terrific return policy and I returned them. I would give the subsequent pair(s) one star, thus averaging a total of 3 stars covering the great and not-so-great shoes.

After reading numerous reviews of other Asics running shoes on Amazon, I've decided to order the Asics Gel Kayano 19 as my alternate running shoe. I ordered them last night and, thanks to Amazon, will have them tomorrow. I'll review them as soon as I give them a try.

Bought two pairs of these ASICS GEL-Nimbus to score a great deal online. I should have listened to the other reviewers who mentioned the ones made in Indonesia are too small compared to those that came from China. Well, its true. I am a 10M across the board in any shoe i wear. I own a 10M in another GEL-Nimbus i bought from a local store (made in China), but both pairs i received from Amazon were made in Indonesia....and too small. Width seemed fine but my toes were pushing up against the front of the shoe as if i had a size 9 on. I returned them both back to Amazon and got refunded, Amazon makes it easy enough to return, but still, its a hassle. I ended up searching around local shoe stores to find a decent deal and found one made in China (my normal size 10 was a perfect fit), and the only orange/silver pair i could find around here were all made in Indonesia. Since i rarely see size 10.5's, i tried on the 11M and they fit in length but i do have to snug the laces up more in the 11. SO STRANGE! What the heck? If you plan on buying these, you have to be willing to take the chance that your pair will originate in Indonesia. Or just size up. Good luck- these are great shoes!!
