In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

I ordered this pair because I already owned a pair that I purchased locally so size was perfect. I LOVED them SO much that I decided to order another exact pair. I felt safe ordering online through Amazon.
I was shocked that the shoe was WAY TOO SMALL. The box and the shoe both read size 6 which is the same size of my existing pair. I immediately read the negative reviews and came across one who posted the exact same story...and mentioned that they noticed that the two boxes were from two different countries. The reviewer was not specific.
I drove myself to the local athletic shoe store and showed the manager my two pairs of shoes. (the one I purchased their and was a perfect fit and the one from Amazon) I pointed out that my two pairs came from two different countries. I asked the manager to bring out every size 6 they carried. I had 9 boxed brought out and I tried on ever pair.
The 9 boxes came from 3 different countries. China, Vietnam and Indonesia. ALL the shoes from China (including my 1st pair) were all a perfect fit. All the shoes from Vietnam and Indonesia (and my 2nd pair from Amazon) were at least a whole size too small.
Amazon was not able to accommodate my request for a REAL PERSON to cherry pick a pair marked from China, however they were willing to keep returning (at their expense) shoes until I received the correct pair.
I decided to order a whole size up, size 7, sure enough my 3rd pair came from Indonesia and was a fairly good fit. A tad bigger than my original pair, but I was satisfied.
I would HIGHLY recommend purchasing these great shoes in person if at all possible.
I was beyond thrilled with the new Nimbus 15's! I feel like they went back to the basics on this one & restored the shoe to it's awesomeness. It is supportive, cushioned, & attractive. I feel like I'm running on clouds again! I really love the normal lacing that they brought back too! I've taken my 15's on 3 runs so far, & as always with my Nimbus', have not had a single blister. My husband even commented that I should stock up on them & that they were his favorite (as far as looks) of all my running shoes in the past. I got the pink color which is a very neon pinkish coral, which looks great with my red, pink & orange colors that I usually wear. I also tried on a few other recommendations at my local running store (Brooks, Asics Cumulus), but knew from the first try that these were my soul mate shoes again. If you have high arch's I would recommend these all the way! I'm in love with them!
Now we come to running. After the first mile and a steep downhill, I was very pleased with the way my knees felt. Also liked the stability on our gravel road. I was thinking I had made a good choice, to that point. And then we came to that point..
After a mile and a half, I realized the two outside toes on my left foot were going numb. I stopped immediately and adjusted the lacing, in case I had tightened it too much. We get to mile 2 and all 4 toes on the left are now numb. I stopped again and loosened the laces as much as I dared. Still no relief. At mile 3 the ball of my left foot became very hot. Beginning to think I might be walking home. Mile four and the right foot, which has not troubled me at all, now has heated up considerably at the ball.
That was a VERY uncomfortable run, and I won't be wearing these again. Until I get another pair of something it's back to my cheaper pair that has almost 400 miles on them.
No one shoe is great for every person. Sometimes it takes a bit to find the shoe for you. These are certainly not mine, but I will say that for all comments that they were too narrow I found the toe box very comfortable, and the cushioning for downhill was great. That gives it 2 stars when I would not otherwise. The stability is also very good, but something about the fit is just off. My left foot is slightly larger than my right and that may have been some of the difference. That said. I have never experienced anything quite this uncomfortable before.
