Purchased the Asrock Mini from a different site as they had an offer at $99, the Asrock mini if the perfect living room HTPC approximately the size of and ATX PSU.
I paired mini with a Kaby Lake i3 (This worked straight out of the box) 8Gb ram, 240GB SSD & 1TB mechanical HDD, the Intel cooler was OK, but a little bit too loud for a living room, anywhere else like an office would be no problem.

I swapped that out for a Noctua NH-L9I took the 14mm fan off and replaced with the NF-A9 PWM 25mm fan, once these are installed there is around 2mm to the top of the case, its now whisper quite, just one thing to note with the intel fan you install from the top of the motherboard, the Noctua heat-sink you have to remove the motherboard to install the back plate, 4 screws and 2 minutes well worth the time.

As others have stated the wifi antennas are fiddly but do not break easily, take your time and make sure you have them flat on top before you push them int place.

My PC Lunch Box Kit Report

Outstanding value for the price! I savor the choices: Celeron's to Core i7 CPU's, 3 internal drives, 3 output display options, a variety of USB 2.0 to 3.0C ports - Plus the included dual band wireless items & power brick in a well-engineered and thermally designed compact STX case? AsRock has a winner here.

My kit arrived with the motherboard BIOS chip stickered P7, so, I went 7th gen on the CPU & memory. Components were easy to source and my total build time (over a 2 day period) was 45 minutes. I will be using the box for software defined radio and radio scanner equipment control (audio, serial, & Ethernet intensive) that will include some local network clients.

Connecting the IPEX-MHF4 coaxial leads to the supplied Intel 3160NGW wireless card is a challenge. This is best done on the work bench before you insert the card into the motherboard's socket (see photo). If you're going to be installing SATA 2.5" drives, the included SATA cable connections to the motherboard are much easier done with the motherboard removed from the case (see photo). These SATA cables are delicate & prone to defects. The quick guide's how-to for the 2.5" drives (position A [2-M3 screws] and/or B [4-M3 screws]) & exact cable routing diagram is confusing.

The system powered to the BIOS-UEFI without a hitch. I used the optional 9-pin USB_5_6 (dual 2.0) header for my usb keyboard/mouse and an external USB 2.0 DVD drive for initial settings & Win10 Ver.1703 DVD disk install. After OS install, I only had to run AsRock's LAN (v20.2_PV_v2) driver for the board's I219-V Ethernet chip to connect to Microsoft servers for registration & updates. After a few updates & restarts, the device manager showed no unknown or problem devices. After configuring wireless, the box was off & running on dual band Wi-Fi with great signals.

The only UEFI adjustments I made beyond time & date was the CPU fan control settings for a quieter ride. At the time of this review, the system has been running for 150+ hours without problems beyond the still buggy Win 10 Creators OS. I'm quite impressed with the CPU temps under load demonstrating the case's well-done thermal design. The little box is all & more than I expected. Though not a gaming rig, its engine delivers far more (graphics aside) performance than my old core i5-2500K/GTX 970 behemoth.

AsRock needs to consider the more modern Silverstone VT02B STX case design & better QC for their DeskMini kits. The supplied older STX case had very sharp edges and alignment-clearance defects. Band-Aids were required. Very short & tiny cover mounting screws - 2-3 turns to tight & easy to lose. (-0.5)

I attempted to contact AsRock Technical Support via their website form submittal. I wanted to confirm that their motherboard's 19V DC input jack accepted the standard 5.5 x 2.5 mm adapter plug. Form successfully submitted, but no email echo - try again? I think not. All the competitor's STX motherboard manuals I enjoy reading spec the 19V power adapter plug size - in their clearly superior manuals & quick install guides. (-0.5)
