Product Description
Compared to traditional chokes, ASRock's premium 60A power chokes effectively make the saturation current up to three times better, thus providing enhanced and improved Vcore voltage to the motherboard. Dual-Stack MOSFET (DSM) is another innovative MOSFETs design by ASRock. The silicon die area is increased by stacking two dies into one MOSFET. The larger the die area, the lower Rds(on). Compared to traditional discrete MOSFET, DSM with larger die area provides extreme lower Rds(on) 1.2 mΩ, so the power supply for the CPU Vcore is more efficient.

So far, I have owned this motherboard for 7 months. I have an i7-7700k, I was able to easily overclock it to 5ghz stable with a Noctua NH-L12. Very easy to use. I have yet to see this thing crash during regular use. *knock on wood* Also, motherboard fits perfect in my Silverstone mini-itx case.
cons:
Motherboard said it was running pretty hot while in the bios. (75 degrees Celsius and up!) I don't know if it is a glitch or it was actually running that hot. However, I updated the bios and it went down to ~30 Celsius.

The not so good stuff? Let's start with Ram slots, most have a capacitor between them which gives the slots enough space for the ram. This board did not, nor the equivalent amount of space. My GSkill ram which was ASrock recommended barely fit with the heat spreaders scrapping against each other. If the ram and its heat spreaders had been a millimeter thicker they would not have fit at all. Speaking of capacitors there are two near the front of the PCI express slot--you normally find them out of the way next to the slot--they were actually bent forward a bit which blocked the front of my graphics card from slotting in correctly. I had to very gently push them back up straight, so the card wouldn't damage them. Placement of USB 3 front connector, blocked SATA connector access if you had locking cable. This proved to be vastly annoying when trying to trouble shoot the hardware for issues. The fan controller software is primitive and doesn't work consistently. There were other minor shortcomings which I wont bother with.
It isn't all bad, I do like their BIOS and they were quick with a BIOS update for the Spectre vulnerability. Also I did eventually get a refurbished replacement for my first board, which is currently sitting in the closet as a backup. I've used several different companies over the years (Asus, ECS, gigabyte, XFX, etc), but this was my first ASrock mobo. This is definitely the worst or maybe 2nd worst build I've had in terms of mobos in the 15 years or so that I've been building computers for myself, friends, family and small businesses. I don't think I will go with them again or at least not for a long time after this largely frustrating experience.

Don't even start with ESD precaution. Not my first rodeo.
I totally did not expect a MB of this brand, level and quality to be DOA but I guess all electronics are prone to be DOA.
Will update my review once I get the replacement. Very disappointed for now.
There are 6 SATA3 channels available, 2 more than Z170 mb. Ultra M.2 socket supports 32Gbps (Gen3X4). Supports NVME and Intel Optane technology. Still located on underside of mb.
Accommodates icore chips 6th and 7th generation, with support for 4000 MHz OC with 7th gen processors. Unless you have a compelling reason to get the latest features, hold off buying the z270 mb and wait for the next upgrade. Apparently, the 7th gen icore chips don't have a significant advantage over the 6th gen chips, except for speed 4.2 Ghz for i7 7th gen and 4.0 Ghz for i7 6th gen
This is the board we use for building out system using 4K Blu Ray optical drives because of the BIOS support for Intel SGX, and the HDMI 2.0 output from the board. I have it spinning 4K HDR blu-rays out via both the DP and the HDMI links out to 4K/60/HDR displays.
1) ASRock Motherboard Z270 Gaming ITX/ac
2) Gigabyte Z170N Gaming 5 ITX
With 1) above, my CPU was 50 degrees Celsius. With 2) above, it was 34 degree Celsius. This is 16 degrees of difference! And the CPU was idle, which is totally NOT acceptable.
The CPU was water cooled with the Corsair H110u v2, so there is no way the CPU could be that hot, plus I verifed that the thermal paste was correct, but removing the block from the CPU.
I re-tested and got the same results. I then researched, and it seems that several guys are finding issues with the sensors in the board, and apparently ASRock has released a beta version of the BIOS to reduce temps.
I did not end up getting the Gigabyte either since that one had also known issues with their type-C port, but that does not belong to this review.
To sum up: I would not recommend this board.
