TROUBLE SHOOTING STEPS:
- Reset the headset and the MixAmp TXD and update the firmware to the latest version
- Move away any wireless routers or transmitters that operate at the same frequency from close proximity to the MixAmp TXD
- Make sure that the cables are connected property via the various systems. (Optical cable, power cable)
- Make sure that the microphone for the A50 is selected in Windows/Xbox One/PS4 properly so that alternate microphones aren?t picking up sound (usually the Xbox One Kinect, most PC webcams, etc can do this)

While this does not help me spot and shoot as fast as these miracles of modern science, it does help me hear them creeping up on me. And say 6 out of 10 times, I can lay out the assailant (if I don't freak out and accidentally shoot myself in the foot). Before this headset, it was difficult with the competitor ear phones, Turtle Beach. Hands down, these are much better sounding than any I have had.
The design on the cable connector to the controller has been upgraded. Someone finally figured out that the cable connected to the controller gets bent and rubbed then eventually breaks. This set has a new flat cable that has a connector UNDER the voice connector to the controller. It can't get worn out from rubbing up against you. Awesome design.
With the exception of cheetah-speed reaction & dead aim capability, all I need is a mode that auto answers two questions that always come up after 8 PM.
"How old are you?" and "Why are you playing games and not working?"
I would like the voice module to respond with:
"I am 57."
"It's people like me that have been playing games for decades that make it possible for you to play these games. I'm not working because my job is in the day time. And by the way, I paid for my XBox One and awesome headset. Who bought yours? Mom?"
That done, I'm good to go till about 90.
The A40's served me well when I was doing most of my console gaming on a PC monitor at my desk, but my gaming preferences have changed and I now play my XBOX ONE on my home theatre projector. My couch is a good 18' from my console which is beyond the reach of the wired A40's. I'll keep the A40's at my desk whenever I'm using my PC.
I have kids who go to bed early and blasting my late night gaming and movie sessions over surround sound is not an option for me. I found myself always needing to keep the volume low and compromise, which kind of defeats the purpose gaming and movie watching in which you want to feel immersed.
I was hesitant to go with the A50's, due to a lot of mixed reviews over various issues, but I decided to give these a try. Right away, I updated the firmware for the headset and the transmitter, and the setup to my XB1 couldn't have been easier.
The sound quality of these are amazing. The balance of the default EQ settings was perfect and to my liking. The chat volume/game volume mix is easily adjustable by tapping on either side of the right ear cup to balance the game and chat volume to my preference. I haven't had any issues with anyone hearing me, or me hearing them. The sound quality of the gaming sound effects is unbelievable. Everything is rich, every sound effect and even tiny nuances and sounds that I never noticed with my surround sound system were noticeable with this headset right away. For competitive gamers, this can give you the slight edge in hearing those footsteps coming from behind.
Are they completely 100% wireless? No. For XB1 you must use the chat adapter (included), which plugs into the controller and a wire that runs from your controller to the left earpiece. Would it be nice to have it 100% wireless? Yes, but so far, the single 1 wire from the controller to the headset hasn't bothered me at all and while playing, I never even notice it. The one positive is that during single player gaming or movies, music, TV, etc. it isn't required. Only needed for voice chat. Still it would be nice to be 100%
One thing I noticed right away was that there is no "mute button" control for voice chat. Initially this bothered me until I learned that moving the mic in the upward position automatically mutes the mic. I didn't see anything on the box, product description or instructions that lets you know this. It's a nice feature. Still my preference would be to have a button to mute the mic when needed on the control pad adapter so that you don't need to remove your hand from the controller (mid game) to flip the mic up. This isn't critical or worthy of complaint...it is just a personal preference.
The build quality of the headset is solid and comfortable. I haven't noticed any fatigue after wearing these for a few hours. The ear pieces cup over each ear nicely. What I actually like is that ambient noise in the room is still present, depending on the volume. I like this because I do have a family and I don't want to completely drown out all room noise, or if someone is trying to get my attention. It really does simulate being in a room with speakers quite well for this reason, vs. having a headset that blocks out exterior noise. It gives it a more authentic feel. I can adjust the volume lower, keep these on and still have a conversation with someone in the room. This was the same with the A40's so I expected nothing less.
I love these, again no technical issues for me. Had no problem setting up and these are as good as advertised and well worth the price in my opinion.
