i've had these for about 5 years now and they still do me well, sure the battery life goes down over time but i got these basically open box and they have never gave me serious issues. at one point i wanted to upgrade so i bought the Steel Series Arctis Pro Wireless and wow they let me down heavily. i sold them instantly and started using these again. i can only suggest that you get a longer charging cable for this or a usb extender cable so u can use these as wired when you need to recharge. the low battery indicator is loud and scares me everytime but it's a small drawback to the most comfortable headphones ive ever used. i use this on pc too, the mic quality is no good but most people already know that, i use this as headphones purely and use a seperate mic. the battery indicator can also be heard by others if you are talking to people online but not as loud to them. that's about the only downside to these but honestly it's a great trade off.

I have had all sorts of issues with these since I've gotten them.
1.) I can fully charge them only to have them begin to die on me when I walk into the next room. Walking a ways from the dock will cause the battery to drain fast.
2.) They have lost sync with the dock, and then refuse to shut off or resync when I've made the attempt. The fix is to let them die completely, recharge them, then resync them.
3.) Sometimes, even after being fully charged, unplugging them from the dock will cause them to shut off. It will continue to shut off randomly every 5 or so minutes if left unplug. They will continue to do this until they fully die...
4.) The mic on it will stop working randomly. This issue didn't occur until a few months after I purchased them.
5.) The mic doesn't always unmute when you pull them back down.
6.) The headphones have a static sound when turned too high. (Honestly, any speaker will... It's just a minor complaint that I wanted to bring up, because I've read where others have had the same issues and wasn't sure how to fix it. There are two different ways to turn up these headphones: a dial on the side, and pressing the side of the headphones up or down. Just turn it down!)

I will say that the sound is nice, and they do fit very comfortably. The mic mutes when you put it up, which is a very convenient feature. That's what has earned it 2 stars out of 5.

I am not an audiophile so you can take my review with a grain of salt. So these headsets are the best I've had. I've only had astros and will continue to shop from them because they have helped me get that competitive edge during gaming. My partner and I played team doubles in Halo Reach matchmaking and were ranked in the top 50 according to Halo tracker.com and Astros helped me achieve that victory. They are very clear and you can hear every nook and cranny when playing. For example, when someone is crouch walking you can still hear their footsteps ever so slightly. But it's enough for you to know to turn around and get them before they get you. The packaging for the headset was top notch as always. I'm sure that is one of the reasons you pay the premium for these things. Setting up the headset was fairly simple. Right out of the box both the headset and the mixamp need an update through your computer on Astro's website. They are very comfortable for long gaming sessions. Longest I've worn them straight was right about 10-12 hours. The adjustability is amazing on them. The boom is not detachable but can b e lifted straight up, also when it is straight up it automatically puts you on mute which is a nice feature. The volume and voice buttons are actually located on the headset itself which I think is one of the best features of the headset. As far as volume goes, these things can get very loud, almost deafening. There is a master volume knob in which you can set the max volume to. The only thing I don't like about the headset is that Astro provides you with a 1.5 foot usb cord to recharge the headset. So if your battery starts dying, you are basically f#@!%^ unless you sit super close to your monitor or buy a 6 footer usb cord. The battery lasts about 8 hours so you will have to have them plugged in while playing for longer sessions. If you have the cash then I would highly recommend these headsets. They are amazing and will help you enjoy videogames much more, it doesn't matter if you're playing competitively or just casual gaming. One last thing, Astro customer service is top notch from "MY EXPERIENCE". It is annoying they only respond by email but when I do have questions they respond extremely quick and help me out as much as possible. So customer support is a plus. Get Astro's, they are worth it.

The headset has a good sound quality when it's fully charged. When it's close to dying out it'll receive lots of static. The battery life wasn't even half of the battery life stated by the company, I tested it 2 times and both times the battery lasted less than 5 hours with both times using really low volume settings and I didn't even use the microphone to try and prolong the battery life, which if i were to run it on high i'm sure the battery life would diminish much sooner. I'm sure if you got a set that is brand new and doesn't have a faulty battery this headset would be superb. It is a gaming headset for sure and does have the sound quality when it's working but like I said the battery life is just horrible, there is no purpose in "charge while you play" because that just defeats the purpose of having a wireless headset.

Arrived in a very neat and tidy package and on time. The box is good for storing it later if you move around a lot. The headset is really amazing, its lightweight and the ear pads are made of some foam which is quite porous and my ears never get hot. The weight thing is actually good as these provide a good fit and the top foam is very comfortable.

Now, the sound is incredible. I use a MacBook Retina so i got a 3.5mm to Toshlink jack which costs about 1 Pound on Amazon. I use a Toshlink cable with these as i want to hear the best sound available. The cable is provided btw. The headsets have 3 modes for sound, one is crystal clear which is my favourite. This is mainly for music but i use it for mostly everything. Another is good for games like Starcraft, Warcraft, League of Legends etc. The last one is the one for those crazy CoD and Battlefield gamers, incredible bass. Just kidding about Cod, ( Yup battlefield for the win!!!). Just to sum last mode for you, when you fire a gun in Battlefield using wartapes mode for sound, you know you fired a gun.

Now Ps3 and Ps4 compatibility is superb. Xbox, i have no idea, I don't use it. The headset ha a microphone noise issue and Astro fixed that through firmwares for both its base station and headset. Lucky me when they released those firmwares for both PC and especially MAC cause i don't own a PC. The base station is quite small and has this Dolby Button which to this day, i have no idea what it does but i don't use it.

Now again, Battery life is good. 8-10 hours of maxing it out. I play while listening to music. Again i must stress, the sound is incredible using Toshlink. I have no idea for 3.5mm or usb though so i can't comment for that.

Lastly, they now have an extended warranty part on their website. You can get 1 more year warranty. Ah yes, this question has been bugging me when i bought these. All Macs have an optical port inside their 3.5 mm jack. Please get a 3.5mm to Toshlink Jack which costs 1-2 Dollar or Pounds etc and then enjoy.

For comparison my last headset was Logitech F540 which was also good but very low bass and stereo only. Hope you guys enjoy A50

After trying several headsets and finding this as I had seen from a gaming company using an older version. It is amazing for skype calls and pretty much the best sound I have heard from any headphones. You pay a lot but you surely get a hell of a lot back.

Inzwischen befinden sich schon zwei Astro A50 Headsets in meinem Besitz und ich muss sagen ich würde nie wieder auch nur an ein anderes Headset denken. Das Ding ist meines Erachtens in jeglicher Hinsicht weit überlegen. Die Akku-Laufzeit ist genial, der Tragekomfort unübertroffen und die Qualität einfach genial. Ich kann von meinem Fernseher ca. 20 Meter weiter auf der Terrasse beim Rauchen stehen und mich immer noch bequem in der Party unterhalten. Leute wenn ihr was richtiges haben wollt, dann vergesst die 300,00 EUR. Die sinds wert.
