Really well laid out, easy to install motherboard for AMD Trinity APU's. I used a A10-5800K in it, with 16 gigs of ram (2 8 gig sticks). Its super fast, the bios is nice it starts into a gui, where it recognizes your usb mouse. I plugged in a SSD in it, it got recognized right away. I'm happy that the graphics are fast, and will run most graphics intensive application out of the box.

I had a rather old desktop (started life as Win XP) that I built years ago, and I was getting rather annoying with it's very slow performance. It was time for an upgrade!

My solution was to get a new mother board, new processor and 8 Gig of memory. So I got the following from Amazon.com.

ASUS AMD A55 SATA 3.0 Gb-s 240-Pin DDR3 2400 Motherboards F2A55-M/CSM

Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1866 MHZ (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory (CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9)

AMD A6-5400K APU 3.6Ghz Processor AD540KOKHJBOX

I assembled these parts in the old case. While putting it all together I was reminded of how much I disliked the old case. After starting it up and installing Windows 7, it was wonderful – so much faster and just an overall great PC. The Asus motherboard runs the processor at 1.4 Ghz when idle then steps it up to 3.8 Ghz when it's required and back again when done. It very efficient - draws about 40 wats when ideling.

Now that old case that was very cramped and difficult to work with needed attention, so I decided to get a new case. I looked around and decided on a

XION XON-720P mATX/ ITX Slim Desktop Case, USB 3.0, 5 in 1 Card-reader, 300W PSU, Black

I Bought the case from another vendor, on sale, and when it arrived it was worse than the old one and the mother board didn't even fit properly (Micro ATX board in a Micro ATX Case?) . So I returned the case. By the time I was done paying the return shipping and a restocking fee I was out about half the price of the case (very bad deal). I then looked around very carefully for a better one and after a lot of measuring I decided on the following from Amazon.com

Chenbro Rackmount 4U Server Chassis RM42300-F

What a wonderful case to work with.

After one of my desktops died, I decided to go with this one. I have used and trusted Asus motherboards my whole life and have never had any major issues with them. This board is no exception. It was easy to install, has USB 3.0, and has worked flawlessly since I installed it. Would highly recommend it.

Overall, a very good board and very useful Asus utilities. Only flaw is the positioning of the Sata ports, at the lower front of the board facing out, not up. If one would have a true micro tower/case, it would be nearly impossible to connect cables without removing the board. Bad enough in a mid size case.
