I've always wanted to learn how to build a computer. Originally I had planned on doing a super low budget build. I did a lot of research and decided on this motherboard for various reasons. I wanted a high quality, affordable board that I could make changes to over time. Reading reviews of other cheaper boards, I didn't want to risk having a board fail after I had installed Windows 7 then need to not only replace the board but the OS as well. I also wanted an intuitive BIOS to help me understand the options within.

This is what my first build consists of: Asus FSA85-V PRO, AMD A-5800K, Western Digital Blue 1TB (2), Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB, Corsair CX 430, Fractal Design Define R4 Case.

Overall, I really enjoyed building this computer. As mentioned, I hope this motherboard will last through future upgrades, as well as the case. I do plan on upgrading my OS drive to a Samsung SSD. If you have any tips or suggestions for my computer I would love to hear them.

I have had this motherboard in my HTPC for a few months now and I absolutely love it. It's been stable and hasn't given me any issues. I previously had the 5800K in this motherboard and I had it overclocked to 4.5Ghz with a few mouse clicks. I recently upgraded to the 6800K and this motherboard has let me overclock it to 4.8Ghz using around 1.48 volts. This board has 8 phase VRM which makes it awesome to overclock using this board. I have seen some people push this thing up to 5.3Ghz using this board with around 1.58volts which is incredible if you ask me.

I use my HTPC to watch HD movies and do some light gaming and it absolutely handles everything I throw at it without a problem. I have also overclocked the ram to 2400Mhz because the 6800K benefits quiet a lot from higher memory speeds. I have also overclocked the NB frequency to 2000Mhz and have noticed a smoothness in both games and applications.

The Asus F2A85-V Pro is a really high quality board at a decent price and I'm very impressed with Asus because they really know how to make amazing motherboards. The BIOS/UEFI is great and packed full of features and offers extreme features to overclock your CPU. This motherboard comes with 7 SATA 6 Gb/s ports which is one of the features that I love from this motherboard. The Asus F2A85-V Pro comes with two PCIe 2.0 x16 slots which is also very nice. It also has two PCI slots just in case for your older devices and three PCIe x16 slots.

When I had my 5800K on this motherboard, I was able to get it to 4.5Ghz without a problem. The 6800K on this motherboard overclocks like crazy. I even pushed it to 5Ghz using only 1.51 volts with a CM212+ and this motherboard is able to handle it perfectly fine. The temps were too high so I went back to 4.

As a future technician currently in college, I had to start somewhere in the computer world. So I decided to start building a PC with lots of time and research for what I want. Actually this would be my 2nd PC Build. Asus, this company I only dealt with is for the tablet I recently purchase and by far the Asus brand tablet has not let me down. So now I will try the out their motherboard. Currently I have it installed into my new PC that I will resume working on when I get more money. I noticed that it has a VGA connector, a good thing for monitors that don't have DVI or the newer standards yet. I noticed a person had used this for a HTPC, not bad, I never built a computer for HTPC (Home Theater PC). Please let me know what that's like. I may try it out one day. Anyways, Shipping was great and on time, Amazon, 5/5 for that and Asus 5/5 as well for your top of the line products. My first build was a Intel build, Now I'm working on a AMD build as well.

After originally reviewing this motherboard, thinking it was defective, I gave it a 3-star review. I had since discovered that it was not the motherboard at all, and not even the CPU like I thought after the new motherboard had the same problem, but instead, it was actually because the aftermarket cooler I had installed had thumbscrews that were just BARELY too tight. It took me several days and 4 different components of troubleshooting before finally discovering the problem!

I am using this motherboard in my new AMD HTPC build with an AMD A10-5800K and 16GB of DDR3 1866MHz Crucial Ballistix Tracer RAM.
It is by far one of the best FM2 boards out there in terms of features and performance and has a very nice array of video ports (VGA, DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort)
Also, it has a 19-pin header on the motherboard for adding an additional 2 USB3.0 ports to the 4 that it supports on the back.
Considering the display options, the plentiful amount of USB3.0 and SATA III 6.0Gbps(7 internal, one external), its quite a feature-packed motherboard.

This is the first motherboard I have bought that has a UEFI BIOS, and wow, it is so much more enjoyable to use those than the traditional BIOS on older motherboards.
It has a ton of options for RAM timings, overclocking, voltages, etc.
I couldn't be happier with how great of a motherboard this is with its feature-set and versatility. If you are looking to build an AMD HTPC or budget gaming rig, this motherboard will easily meet all of your multimedia and gaming needs.
