For starters, you get Bluetooth connectivity via the WiFi Go! adapter. The cooling design of the board is also much more elaborate and successful at dissipating the heat produced from overclocked systems, as compared to the PRO vesrion. The power regulator on the DELUXE (vs the PRO, for example) is 16+4 vs 12+4, respectively. This helps to distribute and monitor power levels and create a more easily (and stable!) overclocked system.
I am running an Intel Core i5-2390T with a stock core clock of 2.3GHz - 2 cores/4threads - (2.7GHz w/ turbo boost). With the included AI Suite II, there is an automatic overclocking feature. You can select "Fast" or "Extreme", naturally I chose EXTREME.. the system reached a stable core clock of 4017MHz (4.017GHz) with the first run! You CAN go higher (let the auto-tuning attempt higher clock speeds) but I'm running with the stock CPU cooler heat sink so I didn't want to blue screen. For the RAM, I have 16GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 Memory with a memory speed of 2133MHz in X.P.M. mode. I got the (2)x8GB set to have room for expansion, although I probably will never need more!
My boot device is a Kingston HyperX 3K 240 GB Solid State Drive setup with the 120GB model running on the ASUS SSD Cache. Boot times are ridiculous. 10 seconds WITHOUT the SSD caching. ASUS claims the boot time will be reduced to up to 40% with a 120GB SSD cache, which puts my boot times around 5-6 seconds!!!
I love this board! Very nice software pack included too. Driver and Utility installation went smoothly, although I did have to wind up re-installing Windows 7 Ultimate because this was a motherboard swap from an HP OEM board.
Hope this helps! Great board, HIGHLY recommend it for an enthusiast or gamer/do-it-yourselfer!
The ASUS P8Z77-V-Deluxe is one of the top boards out there right now, and felt pretty good with what I was reading.
My build went pretty well and updating all of the drivers and BIOS was very intensive to say the least. I have installed a Crucial SSD 256 GB’s for all of my programs and OS (Win 7 Premium 64) and three WD 1 TB blue drives.
This is where my disappointment started and has continued for the past 7 to 10 days. In setting up my drives I found out on the ASUS Forum that the Marvell SATA 6GB controller on this ASUS board will not play well with an SSD so I plugged it in to one of the Intel SATA 6GBs Connectors (Blue). I than plugged in one of my WD drives (Hot Swap Tray) in the other Intel SATA 6GBs Connector. I then plugged my two other WD Blue drives into the Marvell SATA 6GB connectors (Gray) this is when the fun began.
I am now getting a warning from my Action Center saying that my Marvell SATA driver is not functioning properly. And when I get into Disk Management to look at my drives it freezes up.
I have done all of the obvious things reinstalled the driver twice, looked for updated drivers, restored my pc to an early time, and tried the ASUS forums. With no luck to resolve this issue. It sounds like this issue has been going on for a long time if that is so that is very disappointing.
Only if the board would function properly I could give it a 4 or 5 possibly.
We're sorry for the experience you had with the motherboard. Please try updating to the latest BIOS, then reinstall Marvell SATA 6G Driver V220.127.116.114 for Windows XP/7 32bit & 64bit.(WHQL) from the motherboard download page: http://www.asus.com/Motherboard/P8Z77V_DELUXE/#support_Download. Do you have the two drives in the Marvell ports in RAID or are they setup as stand-alone drives?
