After six weeks of use, we can say the ASUS ProArt PA278QV is an excellent work monitor, but a poor gaming monitor. The colors are vibrant, the monitor is absolutely wonderful with a full range of adjustments (height, tilt, angle), the 2W speakers are actually great, and we love the clarity/sync-abilities to our HP and Apple laptops. The monitor quickly adapted to the Apple MacBook Pro, where the HP Spectre took some time to sync and setup. At the price point of $300.00 (USD) or less, the ASUS ProArt PA278QV is the way to go.

Now, if you are planning to use the monitor for gaming, find another monitor, this is NOT the display for you. With a refresh rate of 5m/s, you will visually see blurring during high-speed movement, videos were similar color transitions too quickly thus creating a run-on of color patterns, and the processing speed lags just a bit due to the high color abilities of the monitor. As an art monitor, you will LOVE the ASUS ProArt PA278QV, but as a gaming monitor, you will be disappointed.

What is the manufacturer color calibration worth?

I purchased two of these monitors at the same time to be used as side-by-side setup.
Both are claimed to be pre-color-calibrated by the manufacturer.
But after placing them side by side, they don't even reproduce the same white. One of them has a very slight blue-ish hue. Looking at the individual devices separately, one probably wouldn't notice, but in a side-by side setup, it is very obvious.

The menu controls could be better, especially the switching between inputs (if one wanted to attach multiple PCs). The input cannot be assigned as shortcut button, so one always has to navigate through the menu and sub-menus to switch sources. This made me purchase an external KVM switch.

The "ProArt Chroma Tune" software doesn't actually allow to tune anything. It merely offers a quick way to switch through the Color-Profiles (Standard, sRGB, Rc.709 etc). None of the other monitor settings are accessible via this tool.
One can set it up in a way so it would automatically switch to a specific profile when a given app is running - I haven not tried that yet.

The "Blue Light Filter" always resets your profile back to sRGB, which is in general darker than the standard mode.

Be sure to use either HDMI or DP connections, otherwise the maximum supported resolution will be less than what the monitor is capable of.

Best 100% sRGB monitor I've tried

I tried the BenQ SW240, which is overkill for sRGB (its meant for Adobe RGB and P3)
and I also tried the ViewSonic VP2768.

The way I'd rank these in order is.
1. ASUS Pro Art
2. ViewSonic VP2768
3. Anything BenQ

Why? Well, the ASUS Pro Art, right out of the box had a superior factory calibration.
All Delta E values below 1.0, averaged at 0.32

Compared with the ViewSonic VP2768, where most the grays, and a couple reds, were above 3, one above 4,
and the average sitting at 1.42, yikes, and this monitor costs $30 more. So ASUS is the clear winner there.

Perceptively, both have good screen uniformity, but I think the ViewSonic had slightly more IPS bleed.

Now the BenQ, this might shock some people, cause if you look at Editor reviews, you'd think BenQ is the best choice, but from personal experience, heck no. The only thing I visually saw from my BenQ that looked better for sure, was deeper blacks. The response time though, was the worst I've seen, very noticeable trailing. The screen uniformity/IPS bleed, was some of the worst as well. It's possible my SW240 was defective, but that isn't the reason I don't recommend BenQ, the real issue was their lack of support.

BenQ had their accreditation revoked by the Better Business Bureau in August 2019, and they have a D- rating.
In contrast, ASUS and ViewSonic have A ratings. Those facts aside, my personal experience with BenQ was zero customer service, no exaggeration. They closed their customer service down on June 3rd due to a "labor shortage", can verify this on archive.org (June 2nd snapshot). And well into August, still no custom service, not even email responses, seriously, so you can't even use your warranty right now. But BenQ still has a sales department, ready to take calls in 1 minute, and when I asked about this, they hung up on me. I recommend you avoid them.

Great Value for a Creative Monitor

There aren’t nearly as many reviews for the 24.1 inch version so I wanted to give a review. I will be using this monitor to edit photos and video. I’m happy that Asus cared enough to develop pro-level creative monitors at an affordable price. I was initially looking for a 27” monitor because it seemed like the sweet spot as far as monitor sizes go, but I really didn’t need the extra specs / quality that came with ProArt’s 27” $299 price tag. Also, I’m working on a small desk so there really isn’t much use for it even aesthetically. If you find yourself going back and forth between the 24” and the 27” ask yourself are you going to utilize the specs that come with that $100 difference? A lot of the features are the same on both (i.e. color accuracy / factory calibration, 75hz). Is the added 3 inches going to improve your creative content or experience? Do you just prefer it? If yes, definitely go for the 27”. But if you simply want a pro-level color accurate display at the best value, get the 24.1” (it also has a 16:10 ratio which means you get more vertical space than the other model — less scrolling!) This monitor gets bright, which is great! You’ll want to use the button controls for the best experience. Ultimately, I decided to use the extra $100 I saved to buy computer accessories I needed to complete my desk setup and it was well worth it.

This display is an upgrade from my HP Paviliom 25xi.
Recently returned ViewSonic VG2448 because the image was not clear for 1080p.

Positives:
- No noticable plastic/chemical odors
- Fully adjustable Sturdy Stand
- Built in power brick
- Clear picture for native resolution of monitor
- Fair price for what you get
- No noticeable light bleeding
- Good viewing angles and no noticable flickering
- 16:10 aspect ratio makes the monitor look much bigger.

Negatives:
- The factory sRGB setting is useless as they had to make it dim to meet Energy Star rating
- Blue light reduction option is only available on the factory sRGB setting.
- Restrictive menu options
- Built in speakers are not good for watching movies or listening to music
- Distracting Asus logo
- Average black levels
- No USB C Video Input
- USB ports will not charge anything without a USB computer connection

I bought this monitor for photo editing in Lightroom and Photoshop and it's a very good monitor for that purpose. No need to do any calibration out of the box and it support 100% sRGB. It's not as clear as a 27" iMac monitor that my wife uses, but for the price, it does the job.

Los colores son efectivamente precisos, y tiene modos predeterminados más saturados o con menos brillo para distintos casos de uso y condiciones ambientales de luz.

La resolución de 1920x1200 es la mínima para trabajar (escribir o diseñar), si tienes otro monitor. De otra forma, para trabajo "serio", recomiendo mejor uno de al menos 1440p, aunque estén más caros.

La variedad de puertos de video es suficiente. El hub de USB es también apenas suficiente. Con 3 puertos (2 de 900mA y uno de 2A), se gana sólo 2. Conecto una webcam, impresora y receptor de ratón y teclado, sin poder utilizar el de 2A para cargar un teléfono o algo, si fuera necesario. Un multiplexor de USB es necesario para varias PCs, si no quieres estar desconectando y conectando cables.

La versión más actual (y más cara) soporta Thunderbolt, si menos cables es algo que necesitas. Este monitor lo conseguí en menos de USD$200 (a finales de Oct/2020), así que relativamente salió bien, dadas las circunstancias, con funcionalidad más limitada pero suficiente.

Soy programador y vengo de usar 2 monitores de 24" y decidí conseguir algo más grande y de mas resolución para reemplazar mi viejo Samsung con panel TN. Primero compré un ultra wide pero no me agradó para trabajar y lo regresé. Después de investigar decidí arriesgarme con éste Asus sabiendo que si lo tenía que regresar perdería más de mil pesos en gastos de importación. Sin embargo el monitor ha cumplido muy bien. No soy diseñador gráfico ni nada pero se ve excelente a mi parecer. Colores vividos y brillantes. Pero para lo que hago lo que importa es poder leer durante horas texto; gratamente Asus incluye modo de lectura que ayuda bastante y como 5 niveles de reducción de luz azul. Además viene con un hub de 4 puertos usb y una variedad de conectores de vídeo que hasta incluye dvi lo cual es una rareza en estos tiempos. En fin considero que la compra fue un gran acierto. No se que tal sea para juegos porque no juego; por eso compré un monitor de diseñador.

Big, bright, sharp but the stand is a bit wobbly

I'm not actually a professional who needs colour accuracy, I chose the display because Asus is fairly well known for quality control. The 1440p is a must have for 27 inches. I did some testing and there were no dead or hot pixels and very limited ips glow.

Part of what drew me to this monitor was the stand looked stable and customisable (with plenty of tilt and swivel options) which is is and that's great. But it seems to come at the cost of wobbling. Not when I type or anything, but if I were erasing some notes on my desk it would jiggle about.

The display has a lot of customizability for determining the colours and brightness that work best for you. The white point is a little warm but it's much easier on the eyes.
