I have to say the screenpad is BETTER than I thought. It easily switches from touchpad to screenpad and back. It's very easy to use and better as a touchpad than any I have used before. I do not see much need to carry a mouse now, and that will decrease the bulk. Also, the charge cord and wall wart are small, but the length is good.
This looks and feels like a high quality laptop. No question about it. I got the Moss Green version... it's only that color in some lighting. In other lighting it's more of a bronze color, but both colors are awesome. The screen is nice, and I don't miss my old 17" laptop that's 6 years old.
ASUS bloatware was almost non-existant. I did upgrade to win 10 pro as I needed that functionality.
I noticed a disconnect while using the 5g channel on a router... we will see if that's an issue going forward.
The only real con I see is the lack of a detachable battery.
that is the reason why I give it a 4, other than that, this laptop is great!
Top reviews from other countries
-Using the Microsoft Troubleshooter, which reactivates the adapter, only for the problem to occur again.
-Updating WIFI drivers through Windows Updates and Intel Updates.
-Checking with pinging: 50% loss when pinging 10.0.0.1
-Having other technology around it to compare; second laptop and cell phone both worked (WiFi problem appeared only on this laptop).
-Moving laptop locations. The disconnections still occurred randomly.
-Scanning for viruses, trojans, exploits, then removing McAffee in case of software conflict.
-Checking internet connection with F-Secure.
-Replacing WiFi network adapter with a similar one from another ASUS laptop. No luck.
-Switching Wireless Mode’s Network Adapter from ax to ac and changing adapter settings.
-Adding / removing RAM.
-Scanning SSD with command prompt to see if it was faulty and this was somehow causing connectivity issues.
I don't even know what to say at this point. If anyone has ideas or thoughts, please let me know; otherwise I guess I'll return this laptop and go play Russian roulette with another $1k computer.
Update: After doing a second factory reset, the Wifi decided to get working. I have no clue what caused the problem or why, and the wifi has been fine for a couple weeks. The last day though, the wifi has started glitching out again (both on 5g and regular), but my return window is finished. Eff me I guess; not much I can do. If others have the same problem, hopefully some of my strategies above can help them.
