Top Customer Reviews
First the good..... 1. The screen is a crisp and detailed with great color saturation. 2. The band locks securely. 3. The charging is very fast, 30 min. For half a charge. 4. It stays charged for a long time (even with brightness set to 4 out of 5 I got nearly two days of use after setting the battery) set the battery by doing full discharge and recharges. 5. Tons of watch faces available through google wear and through asus app. 6. It seams smaller on the wrist then it does off of it. 7. The look of the watch is attractive with its slightly curved screen . 8. The price is fantastic compared to similar smartwatches. 9. The band's are easy to change out and it takes a common size. 22mm I believe.
Now the bad.
1. Android software can have glitches but this is from the OS. 2. The leather band on the one I purchased from a retailer needed to stretch a lot to be comfortable because of the poor quality of the leather. 3. The bezel is quite large, I would rather have had a larger screen with no bezel, even if it was a bit thicker. 4. It doesn't have gps, a heart rate monitor, Sim card, camera, ect. Though it reflects that in the price. 5. Charging cable is far two short and the 2 feet won't be big enough for most people.
I will update this as I wear it for more weeks to come. In all, a great purchase and I'm satiafied. You get a lot more for your money thend with other similar watches I've seen. In my opinion it is currently the best option for the money available as of today. I hope you found this review helpful.
My initial reaction upon opening the package was that this watch looked somewhat average. At first, I didn't really care for the beveled / squared look. However...as each day passed...I found myself gradually liking the watch appearance :)
Pros to this watch:
+ The screen is excellent for a watch marketed as a low to mid range watch device
+ The watch is very comfortable and I can barely feel it on my wrist after a week usage
+ Has a built in speaker (not enabled at this time). However, the built in speaker could be made useful with future android updates.
+ The built-in WIFI comes in handy if I am not within Bluetooth pairing range with my phone. For instance, if my watch and phone are both connected to wifi...I will still receive notifications / calls on my watch.
+ The magnetic charging is an improvement over the previous generation Zen 1 charging method
+ I have had several complements from coworkers stating that it looks like a nice, expensive watch. In fact, some coworkers asked me if it was a new version of the Apple Watch :)
+ My watch has been paired with a Nexus 5. So far, I haven't had to hard reset due to OS crashes or memory lags.
- I would like to see an improvement on the battery life. The battery life at the highest brightness level gets me about 1.5 full days before having to re-charge. I would like to see a solid 3 to 4 days battery life.
One of the best features in using a smartwatch (whether Android or IOS based) is that you can quickly check your watch for updates instead of reaching for your phone to see every little notification. I am person that works in customer support and receive hundreds of emails and text messages a day. I find that using a smartwatch in general is very useful for my position.
I will update my review as I continue to use the Asus ZenWatch 2.

I'd give my own watch 5-stars. I gave this smaller version only 3 stars because it seems to be lacking sound.
On my watch, when I originally got it, only the microphone worked, not the built-in speaker. That was still nice. But I had read up on it, and knew that there was a speaker, but that it just wasn't activated.
Still, I was able to use a recorder app if I wanted to record something to my phone, and use some voice-to-text apps. For phone calls, I got an app that allowed me to talk to my watch, but listen on my phone (put sound at full-blast, if checked when answering).
There was an update, which I knew was coming. And, since then, I've been able to listen to music, watch videos, take phone calls (hear on my watch). It's pretty cool. My wife loved the concept, so I got one for her birthday, which was yesterday.
From what I've read, however, I understand that this smaller version may not have a speaker. Why the heck would they put a speaker in one version and not the other? That's just crazy. A speaker should've been the first thought--so that you could use your watch like a regular Bluetooth headset. I'm hoping that there's some misunderstanding--that maybe, soon, the sound icon will appear on my wife's watch. But now I'm starting to get worried, as I'm checking the updates. And there's still nothing. And now my wife will be upset about this, if the sound doesn't materialize, and I may have to try and return and buy her something else. What a mess. If the sound does start working, I'll raise the rating to a 5. I really have to ask why a manufacturer would do such a thing?
On other matters, I got several apps--some of which I had to pay for--that have proven useful for me. You might want to try them, or you might not. If you wait, chances are that someone (ASUS?) will eventually make free, if not better, versions. But I'm not one to wait. These are some of the apps that I'm using with my watch.
Apps that I've installed on my phone:
ZenWatch Manager by ASUS (necessary)
Android Wear by Google (necessary)
InstaWeather (get weather on phone)
Remote Camera (activate phone's camera)
FaceDesigner (change faces)
Calculator for Android
Flashlight (makes watch face white-light)
WIB (web browser)
Wear Speaker (talk in microphone, listen on phone at full-blast, if you check icon when answering)
Wear Reader (read PDFs and text, streamed a word at a time)
Wear Video Tube
Weareal (more watch faces)
