5.0 out of 5 stars The compass DOES work.
By Matt C on May 27, 2020
I read some reviews stating that the compass doesn't work properly. Those reviews, that also displayed pictures, showed that the compass doesn't point North...but I noticed that in those pictures that the bracelet was clipped around the arm of the user. That's the issue. It seems some people don't understand how a MAGNETIC compass works.

When the bracelet is clipped together, the magnetic compass is right next to the metal fire striker. The metal striker cause the compass to show incorrect directions due to the magnet in the compass. To get the correct North direction, unclip the bracelet, lay the compass flat, tap the compass lightly in order to move the air bubble, and KEEP THE COMPASS AWAY FROM METAL.

Everything else about this bracelet functions properly, and we'll be using these on all of our backpacking trips.

4.0 out of 5 stars ... break-in period in order to loosen up and be comfortable to wear
By The Contingency Plan on June 23, 2017
My only complaint with these is that they arrive very stiff and will need to go through a break-in period in order to loosen up and be comfortable to wear. The whistle is loud, the compass works and the fire starters are there. If you don't mind wearing these around during your daily every day life in order to loosen them up so that they are more comfortable then I highly recommend them.

Another thing is I am 5'10" and weigh around 165 and I had to tighten these to their smallest size in order to get them to fit relatively well but it is still loose. If you are smaller than me or a woman these may just slide right off you even at the smallest setting. If you're a big guy you should have no trouble with them.
