This charger is fairly inexpensive at the price of $18. Most chargers like the mycharge charger with built in charger cost about 2-3 times more than this charger. You're paying extra for advertisement from those companies. Phones battery cases like one for an iphone 5 for example would cost around $50.
It's inexpensive, but the there's quality control involved. Ravpower's headquarter seems to be in CA, US. The charging prongs felt quite sturdy flipping in and out unlike the chargepak I had from newtrent 6000. There's no flashlight built into this unit as the other reviewers mentioned. They kept the LED light at the very mininum and conserved the battery inside for charging your electronic devices instead, so there's only one very dim green LED while it's putting out charge. The minor downside for this unit is the power button; however, I don't think it will fail anytime soon. If they do, I'm sure that I can contact the 1-800 in the manual to get it taken care of.
I've had 3 other external batteries with a built-in AC adapter before. They were all huge and wouldn't very well designed IMHO. I like how it's flat, thin, and small. Because it's small, it stays on the wall because some heavy battery would just fall off. There are 2 ways to charger the battery, straight from the wall and with a micro usb cord. It's a back up to charge with a micro-usb cord, but I think this is quite unnecessary because the input voltage is from 100-240V, which means you can use this charger overseas. One additional reason that I like about this charger is the location of the USB port.Read more ›
The only down side for what I'm using it for is that the built-in internal power supply doesn't provide enough output to run the Raspberry Pi. I have had to use a beefier power supply (1-2 amps) and run it to the microUSB input jack on the unit. Maybe not so much a down side as a "would be nice if..." You may also need to get better microUSB cables if there are any problems...check out the Kopi branded ones you can find here on Amazon...very heavy gauge wires as far as such cables go.

I just ordered my third one of these. The first one quickly broke - the prongs stopped folding down properly. The company sent me a free replacement. Read morePublished 19 months ago by E. Turner
I really love the concept of this thing! It stopped charging the battery via AC after a couple of months, though. I can still charge it via USB, and use the AC charger.Published 20 months ago by Moritz von S.
This has saved my life so many times, and works well. I have had to replace it once because of normal wear and tear but other than that I am very happy with itPublished 20 months ago by Gabriella Schonhaut
