Customers are satisfied with the audio quality of the adapter. They mention it works perfectly in their application, allows them to pull out the audio right out of an HDMI cable, and has no hum or noise.

I needed a way to split the audio signal coming out of my Roku to my HDTV, and this was the answer. I am now able to connect the audio out to a separate 2.1 system via RCA out, thus eliminating the HDTV speakers which are absolutely terrible.
Thing worked right out the box, I immediately switched it to 2 channel knowing that this is how I have my Roku setup, and it worked right away. Picture quality is perfect, audio quality is perfect, no humm, no noise.
I've built up a headless music server with a Raspberry PI and wanted to use the DAC inside my home theater setup. This works perfectly flawlessly for that. There's no need to have a video out hooked up like on some competing products. The sound is perfect as well...no noticeable degradation.
The only drawback seems that it is not 'hot swappable' with the PI. Once you disconnect the HMDI cable...it takes a reboot on the PI to get the audio going again. Not a big deal...but worth mentioning if this affects your application.
Worked well on an older flat screen that only had DVI input for 4 plus years. Would run the HDMI input to this and split the sound to optical video to the TV to get sound before converting the HDMI with a DVI adapter. Worked for over 4 years until it didn't anymore yesterday. Think it got buried under some stuff behind the TV and probably overheated. Current price is such that I doubt I'll replace and instead will look at just a new TV. Why pour good money after an outdated product? If you've got a big TV that this fits the bill, it's probably worth it. Just don't let it get covered up.
It works fine in the beginning. but after a few months. it starts to have problems. I often cannot see the pictures though I can hear the sound. Have to un-plug and plug in again a few times before I can see the pictures.
Misleading product information. This device is not a true digital audio decoder. I have an older Yamaha receiver (amplifier) that only supports analog input on zone 2, but supports HDMI/full digital on the main zone. My goal was to have zone 2 (located in my kitchen, has 2 speakers and a small monitor) show the same video/audio as zone 1 (the main theater room, 5.1 setup with a projector) so that there is no need to pause the movie while you make popcorn or grab a snack. I set the Avue device to "2 channel" mode and connected the RCA outputs to zone 2 of the amp. The Avue device works fine when the input audio is 2 channel PCM audio (from my home theater computer which is the main source of content) , but once a movie starts and the computer starts outputting full Dolby Digital, the Avue converter outputs nothing to the RCA outputs and just passes the digital audio straight through the HDMI (this occurs regardless of what setting the device is on). So from this information, I take it that the device is unable to actually decode Dolby Digital. I give it 2 stars because if your goal is simply to convert a 2 channel PCM digital source to analog, it works fine. This should have been made clear in the specifications. The accompanying documentation is useless as well in describing device capabilities.
Works PERFECTLY! Highly recommended. This device was purchased to work with the ROKU 3, which does not have the R/L RCA audio output option for connecting stereo system sound output (unlike earlier models). After connecting it all up, it worked beautifully. Now I can funnel the stereo sound directly out to the stereo system FROM the ROKU box, rather than to the TV. Before, it was necessary to funnel the ROKU stereo sound FROM the TV, and THEN to the stereo system. Not good, because while listening to Pandora, or TuneIN (audio only), I could NOT turn the TV off, now I can (a perpetual screensaver is not needed).
This HDMI to HDMI + Audio Unit works as expected by splitting off audio. My HDTV has no separate audio out thus the sound could only be produced by the built-in small speakers. This unit allowed all devices feeding my TV to output their audio to separate amplifed speakers.
