AWS DeepRacer is the fastest way for developers to get rolling with machine learning, literally. Get hands-on with a fully autonomous 1/18th scale race car driven by reinforcement learning, 3D racing simulator, and a global racing league.
Car - AWS DeepRacer is an autonomous 1/18th scale race car designed to test reinforcement learning (RL) models by racing on a physical track.
Build RL Models: You can build your own RL model for AWS DeepRacer. Building a model requires basic Python programming skills.
Open Source Device Software: Get started with one of six included sample projects or create your own robotics applications with DeepRacer hardware and open source device software.
Tune into AWS DeepRacer TV to follow the world’s first autonomous racing league. Visit the AWS website to learn more about AWS DeepRacer and sign into the console. Visit the AWS DeepRacer Storefront to find DeepRacer tracks, barriers, compatible accessories, and more to make your DeepRacer event a success.

In pole position to learn reinforcement learning
AWS DeepRacer is a 1/18th scale race car which gives you an interesting and fun way to get started with reinforcement learning (RL). RL is an advanced machine learning (ML) technique which takes a very different approach to training models than other machine learning methods. Its super power is that it learns very complex behaviors without requiring any labeled training data, and can make short term decisions while optimizing for a longer term goal.
With AWS DeepRacer, you now have a way to get hands-on with RL, experiment, and learn through autonomous driving. You can get started with the virtual car and tracks in the cloud-based 3D racing simulator, and for a real-world experience, you can deploy your trained models onto AWS DeepRacer and race your friends, or take part in the global AWS DeepRacer League. Developers, the race is on.
Car
Experience the thrill of the race in the real-
world when you deploy your reinforcement
learning model onto AWS DeepRacer with
Sensor Kit.
Simulator
Build reinforcement learning models and
train, test, and iterate quickly and easily on
the track in the AWS DeepRacer 3D racing
simulator.
League
Compete in the world’s first global,
autonomous racing league, to race for
prizes and glory and a chance to advance
to the Championship Cup.
Get on the track to start learning right away
A new, fun way to learn reinforcement learning
AWS DeepRacer allows developers of all skill levels to get started with reinforcement learning by providing hands-on tutorials to quickly start training RL models and test them in a fun, autonomous car racing experience.
Community and competition
The AWS DeepRacer League provides an opportunity for you to meet fellow machine learning enthusiasts, online and in-person, to share ideas and insights, and to compete in time trials showcasing your skills to win prizes and glory.
Get started quickly, anywhere
With the AWS DeepRacer console and 3D racing simulator you can start training your model on the virtual track in minutes, wherever you are.
Experiment and grow
The AWS DeepRacer 3D racing simulator and car provides an ideal environment where you can test the latest reinforcement learning algorithms and simulation-to-real domain transfer methods.
Go beyond the track with open source robotics projects
Follow the Leader
Learn to deploy an object detection model that enables the AWS DeepRacer device to identify and follow an object. Extend this sample project by modifying the code to recognize other objects for your use case. Bring your own custom model, navigation logic, and add-on hardware (optional) to invent your own application.
Build fun applications (use the DeepRacer as a digital pet or to follow an object) or industrial prototypes (warehousing, manufacturing).

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I ordered 2 Deepracer before the pandemic for our student's class project. After a bout 2 years we came back to school and we just were able to open the packages. There was a broken part on the outer surface of the car. Neither of the ASUA Zenpower could be charged. I plugged them on for 24 hours but they didn't get charged. Further more the battery of one of them didn't work. I emailed several times and called different places to reach out to some technical support in AWS, unfortunately I didn't get any help from them :( Very disappointed! :(
Had an initial battery hiccup, but AWS reached out immediately to correct the issue. Extremely responsive and flexible, and took the time to explain the issue. Once again shows Amazon going above and beyond customer service-wise.
DeepRacer worked flawlessly after the fix. Great platform and easy set-up. Extremely happy with the product!
Delivery was delayed 3-4 times, and resulted in a year of waiting. The goods: - The setup is straight forward with the online manual and instruction videos. - Car has suspension and seem durable. - System runs on Ubuntu 16.04. Easy accessible and configurable. The bad: - Motion battery runs out after 10 minutes. - Camera feed is flaky. Sometime it doesn't work, and requires restart. Happens about 40%. - No software simulation. Hard to debug, and hard to understand the issue from the software standpoint.
I bought this thing as part of a challenge through work. The rest of the engineering dept wanted to explore the AWS services and this seemed to be a fun way to do it.
The car is well assembled and while it is ugly, it is attractively ugly if you know what I mean.
The AWS services are really reasonable if you are a business, but hyper expensive if you are playing for fun. Just doing a training cycle (which takes all evening) cost you around $5 once you run out of free time which happens quickly.
I have hacked into the car and the Linix is pretty nice and the ROS engine it has is a fun way to learn these tools, but at the end of the day they are academic tools, not industrial tools for business systems. I am a professional vision engineer and a robotics engineer and have been for decades, and know what I am talking about. This is ideal for the student in either High school or College as it is a great platform to hack, mold and learn. It just isn't something that you can expect to get paid to know about unless you work for AWS. This is the reason that I give it three stars - it would be an academic 5 star product and a industrial no-star product in my book.
Pretty awesome that my 6yo son and I - neither of whom can code - could "teach a brain" in the cloud, "put it in the body" of the car and watch it move around on its in less than a week. Does anyone know where I can print different tracks out that could fit in 150 sq foot space? Have B&W printer, scotch tape, green paint, blue paint, garage floor & walls in need of a makeover. :-)
