There were some cringe worthy moments, but another reader may be way different. I'm a millennial, so I don't automatically slut shame people just because they've had more than one partner, and I can't help but cringe at men who don't ask before they stick their slapstick in you, so it does take ignoring certain things you'd normally question in real life(it's a book, so I guess whatever).
The book bordered cozy mystery/women's fiction and while had a small romantic subplot, there's a lot of sex scenes(two where the MCs are teens, folks who are anti-teen sex may not like it. I'm pro-they're-gonna-do-it-anyway-so-they-might-as-well-wear-condoms).
This book was full of drama and conflict, and arguably was the best part about it. The small town was known for a big secret, that was a tragedy but didn't disappoint despite taking forever to find out.
I'd totally recommend. I think the author is someone I know but have never read from her other pen name, but I'd totally try her other work.
This book made my heart break for so many of the characters😔 without giving anything away hopefully, I adore stories that have a high school romance and the relationship leads to adulthood. The h and h where flawed amazing characters who’s pain you felt. The parents back stories where devastatingly heat-breaking.This book is about love gain and love lost. About secrets and the lies you tell trying to keep them hidden and time that has been wasted trying to protect them. Second book by the author and I love it just as much as the first one❤️
Lifetime should adopt this one. Seriously.
Any story dealing with small town secrets is juicy to begin with anyway, but T.A. Ford’s Aaren tops that list for me because it gave me the “feels”, the goose bumps with all the family drama and the steamy romp.
Aaren is not happy with her current life as wife and lawyer in New York City and when she comes home to Penns Point Kentucky to bury her father, old skeletons begin to walk.
She’d never really stopped loving the love of her life Jarrod Pennington. Even color could not separate them.
It has been fourteen years and the hurt she experienced back then when he treated her coldly after having her still stung. And here she is face to face with the now grown and still super handsome Jarrod.
But the secrets of the town run a lot deeper than the Ohio River. And these same secrets will either rip her apart again from Jarrod, or it will bring them back together.
I really, really liked this one Ms. T.A Ford!
Book received for free from Bookbub.
I will say, I enjoyed the book, even though I found Aaren to be selfish throughout much of this book. What she and Jarrod's parents did was a hot mess and really did ruin their future.
I am not sure if I ended with the wrong book because I feel like the epilogue stopped abruptly. There was no, "The end", "until next time", nothing. Just ended....like this review lol
This happened without any violence , and
I go back to those early years and just am so thankful to have grown up when I did.
This book was a journey into my past and I hope when it is read by others they will also take it as education and joy that we have grown.
