Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (2011)
After viewing the graphics for a few minutes, I realized I've seen this look before, in the gorgeous
Quell
. The similarities end at appearances, though.
This is a maze game with hazards and enemies. There are spikes on some walls. Hit them and you're a goner. There are non-player characters that move about simultaneously with your avatar. Your aim is to get your avatar out of the maze before your avatar is destroyed.
Swipe to move your avatar one space at a time, and keep an eye on those NPCs and spikes. It's possible to break through some barriers, and if you plan ahead, you can destroy the NPCs. It's an incredibly interesting concept, but not well planned. Despite the fact there is no text, there is a key map to use to determine what spaces are tools and which are hazards. That said, the graphics are so primitive it's difficult for me to keep them straight in my head.
I felt a little cheated playing this as well. You must break your avatar out of a room with a limited number of moves, but you can't see the next room until your avatar is in it. You cannot scroll to see what's beyond your exit space. Repeatedly I freed my avatar only to have it confronted by enemies so positioned it was impossible to escape or do battle.
Even if the developer chooses not to include instructions, the graphics need polishing and there should be some scrolling built into the game. You can't predict moves in a room you can't see till your avatar is in it. I hope some improvements are made, because I really like the idea of this game. There is a lot of potential, but at this time, the product seems incomplete. I couldn't make it past the first level, and I've never had that happen to me before.
