There are several things in particular that I like about this book:
1. It is well-written, at the same time clear and interesting.
2. It doesn't make wild claims and offers no gimmicks or "miracles."
3. It takes a holistic approach, with lots of useful information about nutrition.
4. It has very clear photos to demonstrate each exercise.
5. There is no expensive equipment you have to buy.
At first, there was one way in which I thought the book was lacking. That is, the absence of highlighting or similar formatting techniques on pages of text, to indicate which verbiage was most important. But then I realized that this makes it ideal to use a yellow highlighter, to "customize" the book for my own personal use, which is much better anyway. The highlights and most important things to remember will be different for different readers.
In short, I highly recommend this book for any health-conscious person eager to take a great leap forward in improving his or her health, by strengthening the core and trimming the waistline.
The information contained within the pages of this book are numerous and are very sound from a safe and effective standpoint. Fortunately I have never suffered from back pain and therefore can not respond with a testimonial about how using the information in this book alleviated any kinds of pain, but I can attest to the fact that my girlfriend has and she just loves this book. She can now do quite a few sit-ups without experiencing the normal pain that she used to after doing only a few sit-ups, perhaps 25 to 30. Now she can do twice that number with no pain, okay a little sore muscle pain in the abs, but not in the back.
I have found that by following the information and guidance provided by the author in this book that I personally seem to be able to do a few more ab exercises during each session, although admittedly I haven't seen a lot of the waist melt off yet, but I suppose that has quite a bit to do with my hating to diet. I know, you have to do both in order to get the results.
I highly recommend this book along with The BackSmart Fitness Plan: A Total-Body Workout to Strengthen and Heal Your Back by the same author, Adam Weiss.

Plus it offers to let the reader start slowly for beginners or choose exercises that work all aspects of your stomach for those who have been working out for years. You don't have to start reading from the beginning. It only takes me about 15-20 minutes a day to do a workout at home. With many options to choose from, these workouts are fun.
He also share important tips for improving your diet without completely giving up the foods you love. Unlike other restrictive diet plans- this program provides you with smart uses of foods and "swap out" certain food groups for lighter, healthier foods to stop the bloating and swelling that occurs. There are good tips about what to eat and why with a good common sense and straight forward apporach you can flatten your stomach and make your stomach stronger.
A very good addition to whatever workout program you are doing if you need some help for just another view on eating as part of getting and staying in shape. Highly recommended to anyone.
