"Johnson effortlessly pulls the reader through the twists and turns, keeping up with who the characters are and where they are going. With an ending that is both heartbreaking and satisfying, Johnson wraps up all loose ends, answers all questions and shows she knows her craft." ~The Deseret News

If there was ever an epic conclusion to a dystopian series, you're looking at it right here. I was a heap of a sobbing mess when it was over and I may never recover!

**This post may contain spoilers from the first two books**

Stay tuned for the blog tour post going live tomorrow!

Raine is in Freedom under the control of her father. Gunner is with the rebels. Vi, Zenn and Jag are also with the rebels and trying to devise a way to bring down Freedom - and the Association - while saving Raine, Cannon and the rest of the rebels and citizens who are not with the Association.

Abandon is fast-paced and quick in a don't-blink-or-you'll-miss-it kind of way. We're totally immersed in the story now, there's no turning back. Traitors have been outed, more questions are asked of our favorite characters, especially Zenn, who struggles internally with what he thinks is right. Zenn and Jag are in the forefront now, leading a rebellion hell-bent on bringing down an entire government.

I actually struggled with this a little bit. Where are the freaking adults already? Kids are not able to do this by themselves.

Anyway, that question does get answered, but I was never fully satisfied with it.

Zenn's internal struggles are very front and center in Abandon. This novel is more about what he is going to do than anything else. The Association wants him - bad. He has power, they need power. But he has this urge to do what he thinks is right. Only, what is that exactly? I loved his struggle. So as an insider, who is he really fighting for? Elana Johnson left me guessing which side he was playing for up until the end.

Vi and Jag are more interesting in Abandon.

I have loved this series since I first read POSSESSION. ABANDON is filled with the action, the romance, and the emotions I want in the final book of a series. If you've read the other two books, you MUST read this one...If you haven't started the series yet, what are you waiting for?

I've been immersed in this series since Possession came out and was not disappointed with Abandon. I love how the author has a night, tight pace, love the world building and the tech details. I never get bored, and I was more invested in Vi than ever in this book!

I was so torn about this rating. It was hard to come to a decision. I wanted to read it every minute of every day. When I wasn't reading it I wanted to be. The plot and characters were on my mind constantly. That for me means it was a 5 star book... when I'm that obsessed. I'm just so ANGRY about the ending. I did see it coming and it added to the drama, but I didn't like it!

Each book in the series had different characters telling their POV. This book was Jag and Zenn. I was so attached to the other characters from previous books that I wished the POV was from all of them, especially Gunn, Vi, and Raine.

This book broke my heart at times. Zenn's love for Vi made my heart ache. Zenn was my favorite. He was so complex, but with half of the book from his POV he was easy to understand. I felt every emotion with him: heart ache, new love, confusion, anger, fear. This roller coaster of emotions will make you cry... I sure did.

Jagg was still tough and a hard shell to break as the resistance leader. He had some swoony scenes with Vi though. Definitely made me smile.

The end was frustrating, and I didn't see the purpose for it. It seemed out of character from the rest of the books. Some bad choices by main characters were made that weren't explained, but maybe that's the point. No ones perfect.

The Possession series was inventive and thrilling. I loved these books! Abandon was just as wonderful to read. If you haven't read these books you need to... like soon.

Sometimes it is hard to write a review at the end of a series because you are so sad that it is over and I feel that way about this book. I loved getting to know Zenn better, (that poor tortured soul). The war was awful and there were lots of casualties which left me feeling sad, but there was hope for the survivors and even though their lives were wrecked they had each other to hold on to and the work of pulling things back together to accomplish. The end reminded me of Hunger Games in a way accept there was more hope and the characters were stronger in the end and not destroyed.

"Filled with raw, desperate, aching emotion, Abandon is the story of a bunch of crazy-Talented kids struggling to keep the Resistance and its mission from slipping through their fingers.

I loved the tech and the world Johnson so vividly painted for us yet another time. The picture of the Reisitance's quarters and the various locations in the Goodlands sparkled with just enough detail.

I ADORED Saffediene. The slow, sweet, painful dance of relationship between her and Zenn was a zoomed-in allegory for the changing world they are trying to navigate.

Johnson infuses her characters with a growing self awareness, which sometimes means that their powers, and the powers of those they love, terrifies them. It lends the appropriate gravity to the situations they're fighting through on a personal level, which I really admired, and means that the end, while (*sob*) devastating, was afforded the proper buildup.

A heart-twisting, beautifully written, entirely perfect ending to one of my favorite series. Recommended for its masterful writing and sharp, clear voice."
