Pros: the sleeping bags do compress relatively well, and they sleep comfortably down to around 45 degrees or so.
Cons: simply put, this is a classic example of 'you get what you pay for. Are you looking for an affordable sleeping bag, period? Great! This is the sleeping bag for you! If solid build quality, waterproofness, 4 seasons comfort, and other such things are what you're after, then this is not the sleeping bag for you. It's a pity these are the very features the product claims to provide.
Please understand, I take no pleasure whatsoever in writing negative reviews. In fact, I rarely write them at all. Unfortunately, for these, I had to make an exception. I believe in having truth in advertising, and in this case, the product just does not cut it.
We bought these to go camping in, whether on the trampoline in the backyard or in a mountain forest. First, let me address the "waterproof" claim. Just after purchasing them, the kids accidentally left the sleeping bags out on the trampoline when a quick little rainstorm blew through. This was no deluge, but a light sprinkle that left mere minutes after it had come. Well, folks, the sleeping bags were *completely* soaked through, just sopping, sopping wet. They're about as waterproof as a wad of paper towels. Second, let me address the build quality. Within a few mild uses, there were multiple major tears in the fabric. These simply do not stand up to real-life use. The materials used here are subpar, and the build quality is shoddy. Third, to the " great for 4 seasons" feature. In my view, this is the most egregious falsehood told, because it is so demonstrably false. I recently (weekend before last) went on a camping trip with my kids, who range from ages 5 through 11. Seeing that the sleeping bags had consistently failed to stand up to their advertised capabilities, I decided I would pack some extra blankets, just in case. At night, the coldest it got was 33 degrees Fahrenheit. Per the advertised capabilities, everyone should have been fine. We were definitely NOT fine. Thank goodness I brought the extra blankets. Even *with* the extra insulation, every one of us slept cold. 33 degrees is a far cry from the advertised "comfortable down to 20 degrees Fahrenheit".
All in all, I am distinctly dissatisfied with this purchase. These sleeping bags' product description is mildly misleading at the very best, and is a perfect example of "false advertising" at the worst.
I truly have no concept of how a sleeping bag with such subpar performance could even come to approach 5 stars.
