"Marketed" as a product for Young Adults, and they found it very desirable, but by far the largest number of buyers were Mature Adults. I think this is the same for these "Abducted" books. If I'm at all typical of my age group, I can assure you this has great appeal to all Sci Fi Thriller fans of any age. The only thing missing is descriptive and explicit SEX; and that's fine with me.
The situations, emotions, tactics, battles and Science are all as real as any books I've read in this Genre. At one point I found myself thinking: "this is pretty fantastic stuff" thinking it was expected because it was a Young Adult (gasp) story but then I though of all the other (MANY) Sci Fi books I've read and the only real difference is the age of the main character.
I mean no slight by this but I wonder what percent of the Young Adult readers have or take the time to leave reviews. These books and this author deserve a lot more attention. They are really enjoyable, fun and exciting to read.
Review by "THE HOLEY ONE"
I bought this book for my own personal reading enjoyment and I am under no obligation to leave a review.
I love this entire series of books by J.R. Cleveland! Like another reviewer of this book said, and as I have said in my other two book reviews from this series this book IS marketed toward teens, but very definitely could be an adult sci-fi favorite! I actually would not have as high regard for it if it had sexually explicit scenes, so I am glad for that! It has some light innuendo and talks about male/female attraction and love relationship between the two main characters, but it doesn't go too deep into physical relationship with them.
The plot is excellent and, to be honest, I had trouble putting it down. I read it a couple months ago and due to moving across the country had not reviewed it, but I will likely re-read these like I have done with Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.
Writing it from a mother of a teen perspective (disclaimer, I have an 8 year old...hardly a teen) I think they are appropriate for teens. There is light profanity (which probably every teen has heard before) but is not engulfed in it. There is some innuendo, but I covered that earlier. There is some violence. I cannot recall how graphic, so it must not have been too bad because I am hardly desensitized (I don't watch tv hardly ever). I laughed out loud in some parts, and I shed tears in some parts...which is totally crazy. I don't know that I shed tears like that since Dumbledore or Snape died, or a couple different scenes in the Chronicles of Narnia.
Anyway, I wanted to get on here and tell you about these books. I need to share these on my blog to some mothers I know with the light sex/language warning and see if some of them really love them. As a homeschooling mama we are always looking for mostly clean, highly entertaining books for our kids.
I received an e-copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review. I can honestly say I love this series and I would love to someday get it in print! For me! :)
I downloaded this book via Kindle Unlimited.
