How is that possible? Jane tries to prove that her daugher and husband were alive after the date of death indicated on their death certificates, but can find no one who can corroborate her claim.
The detective in charge of the case tracks down Jane's husband's biggest client who gives him information that helps him figure out why Jane's family might have been abducted.
The kidnappers contact Jane and explain what she has to do to get her family back. She must give them information she does not have, information that only a few people in the world know.
The book is well-written, moves at a breakneck speed and is full of twists. The characters are interesting and relatable. Definitely recommend it. There's a stunning twist at the end that literally turns everything on its head.
Then the detectives come across death cerificates with Angie's and Michael's names on them, dated four days before Jane claims they were abducted.
Jane suspects that her family's abductors are trying to shut down the investigation and death certificates are part of their devious plan.
This is only the beginning.
This book is full of twists and turns. It's an excellent fast paced, well written suspense thriller. The final twist just blew my mind.
A few days later Buckley obtains copies of death certificates with Angela's and Michael's names on them. According to the documents, they died in a bike crash days before Jane says they were abducted. Buckley suspects that Jane made up her story.
Meanwhile Jane finds herself in the center of a murder investigation as the prime suspect in the murder of her husband's friend. She suspects she's been framed by her family's abductors.
I won't spoil the book any further. I'll just say that Jane's family was abducted but it wasn't a simple kidnapping. The kidnappers are after a multi-billion dollar fortune that was hidden in South America over 70 years ago.
Jane Shepard comes back to her car from the grocery store and sees that her husband, Michael and her daughter, Angela have disappeared. She reports them kidnapped. When the detectives investigating the abduction find out that a man and a girl with the same names and social security numbers as Michael and Angela died in a crash several days before Jane says they were taken, they think that Jane imagined the whole thing. Jane finds herself in a terrible situation: the police do not believe her and want to close the kidnapping investigation.
Detective Paul Buckley decides to believe Jane and continues to look for her family. He explores one lead, the driver of the van that he believes was used in the abduction, but the guy provides no useful information.
Then an armed man tries to steal Michael's computer and files. Jane and Paul begin to suspect Michael taken because he had information the kidnappers wanted.
As Paul and Jane dig deeper, they discover that Michael and Jane are targets of a conspiracy devised by a high-ranking member of US government who is after a 16-billion-dollar treasure that's been buried in South America for many decades.
I won't spoil the plot any further.
The book grabbed my attention from the start and the twists were unpredictable and made it hard to put the book down. If you’re into a good twisted thriller, you'll enjoy Abduction.
A woman's husband and daughter disappear from her car but the police do not believe her. The main character is a strong and resilient woman.
The book was hard to put down.
