The cottage next door has been empty for a while, then one day the new neighbour arrives. Haughty, snobby and lacking in any decency, Abi is thrown a curve ball when Cassandra shoots down in flames her attempt to give a neighbourly welcome. Abi fears that all she left behind in London has moved in next door, and its not nice.
Meanwhile, Cassandra feels like she has been dumped in the back of beyond. He married lover and lawyer promised to visit, but has suddenly done a runner, just as news that her business has been sold out from right under her nose. Can Cassandra manage on her own or will she swallow her pride and ask the neighbour for help?
Jenny brings back the Sennen gang for a second outing. Another bunch of characters that I would so love to be friends with. Do yourself a favour, pick up this book, get comfy and let the Cornish sun that shines off the pages warm you up and leave you craving Cream Teas and Fish Suppers on the beach.
I thought the major characters were plausible and a good selection of “British” types. And varied - they included a teacher, a potter, a decorator, an Army veteran (turned care home manager) and an octagenarian former spy! I got a strong sense that Jenny’s familiar with the area the story’s set in, the far south-west of England. It’s not a travelogue, but gives a good flavour.
I bought this from the Amazon UK site.
