After several dark stories, I moved to the lighter end of the mystery/suspense spectrum with So About the Money. Written from Holly Price's perspective, the mystery romps through eastern Washington State with its rivers, wineries, Native American casinos, and assorted farm animals. The relationship, with some wicked fun chemistry between the CPA amateur sleuth and a Franklin County detective, is a big part of the story.

I really liked the storyline and Holly and JC make the cutest couple. JC right out the shoot thinks he is going to tell Holly what to do but slowly comes to the conclusion she won’t take orders from any man. Then things finally get interesting between the two. I look forward to the next story.

Tragedy is joined by its twin irony when Holly recognizes the woman as Marcy Ramirez, Tim Stevens' employee--and the detective investigating the case is Holly's ex fiancé JC Dimitrak. (Things are heating up now!)

Holly finds herself listed as a suspect by JC, labeled a bad girlfriend by a jealous Alex (they're only casually dating), and treated like a home wrecker by Nicole Stevens--all in the same week. And since Holly knows she's done none of the things she's accused of, she starts investigating on her own to prove them all wrong.

I loved this story! I downloaded my copy, started reading and was hooked. The characters are engaging, layered with emotional depth and humor. Each twist revealed in the plot kept me turning pages. I wanted to know not just who killed Marcy and why, but if JC and Holly could get beyond their past and have a future together.

If you like your books equally character and plot driven, filled with mystery and suspense, and laced with a romance that deepens instead of overshadowing a story, pick up For Love or Money. You won't be disappointed!

I really enjoyed this book. Had a little bit of mystery, a little thriller aspect, a little romance plus great characters. Holly Price is back on her hometown to help her mom with an accounting firm. Her dad left them high and dry for a yoga instructor. She takes a leave from her job on Seattle. Five or so months later, she finds a body, her friend, and ends up a suspect. But is she really or is her ex fiance just using the situation to his advantage to mess with her. Things get dicey when she starts poking around. There are more suspects and motives every tome we turn the page. I'm cheering for JC. Alex is a jerk.
Fast paced. Light steam. Told from FMC POV. Can be a standalone, no cliffhanger.

I love mystery combined with romance and this book ticked both boxes for me. The brewing romance between Holly and JC was woven cleverly with the murder investigation. Once they Holly and JC had been a couple but things went wrong and they parted acrimoniously. Now six years later Holly is back helping her mother in her accounting firm and she meets JC, who is now a police detective, when she and her boyfriend find a dead body. I enjoyed watching Holy and JC come to terms with their past and rediscover their feelings for each other. The mystery had plenty of red herrings and kept me guessing to the end. Recommended!
