5.0 out of 5 stars It does works and it doesn’t float!
By sherylkmom on July 5, 2018
Ok, I don’t get what all the bad reviews are about! Maybe they are old reviews and the ladder mat has improved, but all I can say is that, it works! It does exactly what it’s supposed to do! We just got a new pool installed, and the installer recommended that we get one of these. That was a surprise to me since we had a pool for 19 years without one, and never had a rip in the liner. But, I did some research and decided to try this one in spite of the bad reviews. First off, it does NOT float. I threw it into the pool and it sunk directly to the bottom and stayed there, without anything holding it down. Secondly, it is a bit thin, but why is that bad? It’s meant to act as a protection to the liner, not to raise the ladder. I’m glad it’s thin! Third, it’s the perfect size for an average ladder, (ours is a ladder that comes in off the deck.). I’m sure if you have pool stairs, rather than a ladder, this would not work. But if you read the measurements, why would you think it would? I’m sure there are bigger ones for stairs. So, if you’ve bothered to read this review, you must be considering purchasing this. Go ahead and do so! It will work for you! See my picture as proof!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don’t buy— not as described or pictured!
By clonsheefior on July 29, 2019
This is the first time in many years of buying from Amazon that I feel I have been victimized by a scam.
This product is advertised as 1 inch thick. It is actually thinner than a penny. I’m pretty sure it’s thinner than a dime, but I didn’t have a dime on hand for the picture. See first picture.
It’s a piece of floppy plastic that apparently is cut off a roll in 30 inch sections, and they don’t even bother to cut it off straight. See the second picture.
It would be useless as a protection for in pool steps.
The item received is completely different from the one pictured, which has rounded edges and a reasonable thickness.
I returned to Amazon for a refund with no problem. But the time and trouble involved in this exchange is absolutely unacceptable
The happy happy reviews are simply unbelievable to me. In my opinion they have to be fake.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommend for any above ground pool owner
By Jeff & Dee on August 13, 2016
Fits perfectly under Confer Plastics Stairs. [[ASIN:B002AQUFG6 Confer Plastics Access Pool Step]] Adds protection of pool floor / vinyl bottom when kids and adults alike are using stairs! Recommend for any above ground pool owner! Pic shows dark blue latter mat under stairs. *Tip* I laid it out in the sun on the deck for a couple of hours prior to putting in pool to flatten out.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT THE MAT IN PICTURE. DON'T BUY
By LINDA on May 25, 2019
This mat is NOT what the seller has advised. Umm seller & Amazon, it is illegal to false advertise a product!. This mat is thin and corrugated and is the same mat, but smaller, than the one I was trying to replace as it is cheap and rolls up under water. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER!

5.0 out of 5 stars 36” x 36” works as advertised
By Angela007 on July 29, 2018
I placed it flat in the sun for a few hours, as suggested, to straighten it out and then got my 9 year old grand-daughter to place it under the ladder while she was in the pool swimming. Just that simple. The weight of the ladder keeps it in place. Yes, If there is a lot of commotion in the pool making waves the corners will lift, but they fall right back into place when the water is calm again. I felt the pool needed the extra protection since I can’t keep the grands from playing on the ladder and it’s doing what it was designed to do.

Update: June 23, 2020
It’s still doing its job with no signs of wear.

3.0 out of 5 stars Algae trap
By Kindle Customer on June 20, 2019
Part of my issue could be my ladder. The abundance of algae could be a problem of maintaining my pool; or I'm having trouble maintaining my pool because of this pad. Now that I recognize the dirt trap it can become, if I continue to use I'll have to remember to clean regularly. Also good to know that my vacuum doesn't like it. I got great suction and the pad doesn't stay in place so they don't get along.
