What secrets will be unearthed?
Will Phoebe ever recover?
Or will she be lost forever?
Absolute Love was a beautiful heart-felt read, but also a hard read. Why you ask?
Because many of the issues raised in Absolute Love are real. They are real issues that are faced by people everyday.
The damage that secrets can cause, the hurt and pain that someone goes through when grieving, the feeling of guilt that can destroy. This is life for some in a nut shell.
Absolute Love is confronting and raw.Read more ›
Phoebe retreats into herself pushing Justin away. Things escalate and it seems as though their marriage is headed into deep waters. Since this is told in both their POV's, we read about Justin's struggle to keep his family together. A man from Phoebe's past increases Justin's insecurities. Can something so broken ever be fixed?
Good, solid romance with a little mystery concerning the identity of Phoebe's father thrown in!
With her marriage breaking down, the outlook is bleak and this aspect of the story truly saddened me, as it was obvious there was still a connection there for them.
Justin clearly adores Phoebe and reallises he has to do more than be a shoulder to cry on if he is going to help her deal with these issues, i really liked his attitude and devotion to his family.
This is a love story of a married couple hurting, drifting apart and trying to make a future.
Congratultions Erin a truly magnificent debut novel.
From having read Love's Sacrifice, I was familiar with who Phoebe was, and perhaps thought I knew her. I was definitely wrong on the latter, and my feelings for her ran the gaument of emotions as I truly did get to know her. My heart broke for her so many times, but I also found myself frustrated with her at times, as you would with any good friend you were watching self destruct (and her friends did show some of those emotions, in perhaps a bit kinder and gentler way.) The struggles of her marriage are so real, and heartwrenching. It is refreshing to read about a married couple in very rough patch, but both still in love with each other and just unsure how to fix what is broken. The breakdown in communication leading them both to doubt themselves, each other, and, most destructively, how they see each other. Though not all of us go through such dramatic scenarios to get to our low points, or to dig ourselves out, I think it is something most couples who have been through for a number of years face at sometime or another.
Romance comes in many forms, and certainly, while fun to read on occassion, the insta-love, drama, makeup, marry, have kids and live happily ever after, has to be the rarest real life scenario. The kind of romance shown in this book warms my heart through all the tears and heartbreak. We are so conditioned to believe that marriage leads to happily ever after, when the truth is we have to work at marriages all the time to keep them strong.Read more ›
