The Bordo Ecolution is the perfect locking solution for the environmentally conscientious bike rider. One hundred percent of the materials used in the lock can be separated and recycled. The temper hardened steel bars are coated in a special natural fiber to protect the bike's paint from damage and the OekoTex certified textile covering on the lock body is made from recyclable material. The lock body, links and supporting elements of the locking system use the same high quality steel you'll find all of our locks. The Bordo Ecolution6000 features a Premium Cylinder that can be keyed alike with other Bordos using the same cylinder - perfect for households with multiple bikes and locks. The Premium Cylinder offers a high degree of protection from picking. Two keys are supplied with this lock.

The clear advantage with this lock is that, due to the folds, the ring can be snaked around those hard-to-reach areas where a U-lock just can't. I've had success getting this to work very will with those old-fashioned bike racks from the 50's where you're supposed to just put your front tire in. With this, I can attach to the sides of the rack that's constrained for other locks. It's worth it for that alone.
Otherwise, since I also have a good U-lock, I use this as a second lock to make potential thieves write my bike off as not worth the effort.
The only negative is that the holster for the lock doesn't connect to regular bosses on the bike frame. (It's velcro strap only.) I have success by tying it to the bottom of my back rack, but that might not be viable for everyone.
Overall, knowing its limitations, I think this is a good buy.
Kudos to Abus for their 2-year warranty & service. My key broke with the shaft still inside after about 3 months of daily use. While that in and of itself is a concern, Abus sent a new lock to me right away via 1-day UPS after a friendly email exchange & a couple photos on my part, without asking me to return the old one. Regarding the broken key, I can still use the old lock as a deterrent, but even a flat screwdriver/paperclip/etc. can open it now. The new key is much stronger at the base, so it definitely won't break in the same way as the old one.
My only gripe (1 less star) is the mounting bracket. It's all velcro, so not particularly secure to the bike. In fact, if you mount it on the seat tube, it will likely slide down over time.
