From Kirkus Reviews
"The lessons of this story will be clear for anyone contemplating a divorce..and readers will also get a clearer understanding of the signs of parental alienation."
"You might think this story is fiction because it seems so outrageous. But as a Family Law Advocate, I see this happen all the time to thousands of other unsuspecting fathers and parents. Richard does an amazing job telling his story, and this book is a must-read for those that think the legal system is always fair."
--Don Desroches - NY President of Families Civil Liberties Union
"In an era of increasing awareness of the value of fathers to children, Richard Joseph's personal story of a father's heartbreak at the alienation of his daughters is a timely reminder of how far we have yet to go to reach healthy post-divorce relations for children and their parents. This is a must-read for all fathers, and everyone navigating a challenging marriage."
--Robert Franklin, National Parents Organization
"ABUSE AND BETRAYAL is a relatively straightforward recounting of an incredibly emotional and debilitating journey. This book allows the reader to understand what it is like to build, and lose, an entire family."
"For the overall achievement of this highly admirable and unique book, the author has amply earned his right to three rousing cheers of congratulations...it is truly an eminently worthwhile read."
--Steven Svoboda, PR Director/Attorney, National Coalition For Men

There are many tragedies in this story. One of the most significant is that the woman depicted in this book engages in a full fledged attack on the husband/father to not only demonize him but to also alienate him from his two teenage daughters. In this case she was successful. A father who arranged his work schedule to be with his children as much as possible is completely marginalized from his children's lives. The route to this mothers' success is heartbreaking. Her ability to rally authorities to her cause who don't know they are being manipulated is astonishing. Any attempt for this father to exonerate himself is portrayed by this woman to their children as desperate attempts to control them and her. I am not a therapist, but I bet very few therapists cry when listening to the life events of their patients. How things get to this point is eye-opening and a must read.
One of the scariest extensions of this story is the ex-wife considers what she has done to the father of her children and her children as a victory. I would not be surprised if this woman is coaching other woman. Despicable. Sad.
This true-to-life story is a must read for all fathers and those whose might see divorce in their future. Divorce lawyers and county prosecutors too should read this to see the consequences of blind acceptance of their clients' claims without a reality check. Another audience would be those involved in efforts to modernize divorce laws and reform alimony guidelines.
I received the book from Amazon and read it in one evening. I could not put it down.
