The design of da Vinci's clock utilizes intricately connected weights and gears to accurately measure time. Power for the clock is harnessed from a horizontal rotary pendulum design. The clock's speed is controlled by adjusting the weight and balance of the pendulum.

Once assembled, you'll be expected to provide your own weights. The weight carrier looks like it's set up for about $2 worth of quarters, but washers ought to work just as well. The black teardrop weight pictured on the right is ornamental.
The ticking action is soothing and this seems like it will make a great desk toy.
Finished clock simply does not work though, it ticks a few times then gets stuck. Too bad because it would have been a neat little timer.
Quality - the model is plastic and fits together well. For the price it is hard to believe that anyone would expect wood and metal.
Instructions and packaging - the packaging arrived undamaged and the instructions were clear and in English. I can't speak for the others that have claimed that they receive inaccurate instructions or a Japanese boxe but I did not have this problem. Everything was easy to read follow and Assemble.
Extra - this model comes with the ability to be constructed in two modes. One has the hour hand moving slowly the other has it set quickly, to change between these two you must completely disassemble the kit and swap one cog. Not really a problem you just choose one as you build it the first time.
There is also an option for mounting this on the wall along with extra string to allow it to run longer than it would on a desk.
As stated in other reviews this does not come with weights you must Supply your own. Four US nickels easily provides enough weight and is hidden Within the container.
Build time - This took me about half an hour and was reasonably enjoyable. Probably could have completed this within 15 minutes but I was taking my time and listening to music.
Overall - definitely worth the few bucks to add something else that's interesting to my shelf of nerdiness. This would make a great present for the nerd in your life.
