Very fun game if you ditch the microphone!

I agree with the other reviewer that the mic was bad. It is. It's too bad this game gets a bad rep because of the peripheral packed with it. But if you ditch the microphone and use another USB mic, you'll find this game is actually great and is a lot of fun! It's a wonderful party / family game and contains a nice assortment of songs from the '80's to the present. The best part is the original music videos are included and play when you sing the song! The aspect ratio is 4:3 but I imagine it's because many of the original music videos are in that aspect ratio.

The menu is easy to navigate. The on-screen menus are easy to follow, and the lyrics on-screen also contain a pitch guide to help the singer. This game keeps score, and the score is determined on the singer's timing and pitch. So you could hum your way through a song and as long as you hum the correct timing and pitch, you'll get a good score (no voice or language recognition). The best part is the replay mode where you can replay your performance and actually listen to yourself singing! I bought this game from Amazon and it's great (also works with Wii U BTW), then I went back to buy one for my neice and noticed the price went up drastically. It's getting hard to find now for a decent price, but I would recommend this for any Wii or Wii U gamer, it's a nice game to have in your collection (even if you don't think you can sing lol).

Bought the game for Christmas and haven't played yet. The game starts great, the microphone that came with the bundle doesn't work and makes a jiggling sound. Tried a usb hub and still isn't recognized by the wii console. Might have to buy a new microphone.

I bought this game for my 9 year old daughter. There are only 35 songs most are currently popular and a few older. I love the layout of this game, it plays the video for the song while giving you the lyrics and tone bars with your running score. As you hit notes and lyrics it has positive messages "good job" " great" congratulations" on the side. There are multiple levels of difficulty. It is rated teen but they removed obvious swears and some songs are suggestive but they are the same popular songs as on the radio so it depends on what you listen to as a family. It works well with my older Wii! My only complaints are only 35 songs, the main screen graphics could be better and no Taylor Swift ;)

If you plan to play this with your children be advised that there is full torso nudity, nipples and all, in the John Legend Video. We were completely taken by surprise and our young kids were horribly uncomfortable. If your kids are sensitive to this sort of thing you might want to avoid that video.
