Pros: Class development was interesting, as the main character learns a new fighting style, the author introduces new elements to the world and challenges that need to be overcome, without relying on tactics used in the first book. Lastly, the author hints at a possibility that something's gained might carry over to earth. Unfortunately, there was no epilogue this time to explore the fruits of the main characters labor.
The main character is reset on both a personal level and game level. Once he’s summoned back to the fantasy world, he loses access to all the power he gained as a master thief and instead starts over as with the warrior class. I assume the same will happen with book 3 when he becomes an accidental mage.
It’s not a bad story or anything, it just hits a lot of the same notes as book 1. If you liked that book you’ll like this one and you might even like it more. I did.
Score: 7 out of 10
One nitpick - the author spends a fair amount of time describing the protagonist's challenges on Earth before he starts his latest adventure. Given that setup, it would have been nice for the author to give us a chapter at the end showing how he overcame this.
