About the Author
E. A. Wallis Budge, the author of numerous books, was once the Keeper of Egyptian and Assyrian Antiques in the British Museum.
Top customer reviews
Budge does a good job of presenting the work and extrapolating missing parts of texts from other existing works that did not suffer the damage that the sarcophagus endured in antiquity (the lid was almost completely smashed) and relates subjective interpretations here and there as well. The text is complex, but he does a good job of keep everything "moving".
I would have loved a clearer image of the sarcophagus (the image in the book is a black blotch) and to see the actual engravings as they are on the piece, as opposed to the renderings.
I would also liked to have had a more detailed account of its discovery, and how it ended up in that particular museum. The relic is made of solid alabaster - so it must be quite a sight to behold.
