Prior to owning this Accutire model, I had a 7 year old Accutire digital gauge that finally broke. WIth that old model, it was much harder to get a reading without air leaking out. With this new model, if you just push the gauge straight into the valve stem, you easily get a solid reading without leaking air. The old model's display wasn't backlit either, and I was truly impressed with the large, bright numbers on this new model. I'd highly recommend getting this gauge, as it has all the functionality you need, at a very reasonable price. I like having accuracy to 0.5 psi, and I never use non-digital gauges unless I have no other choice. I also tested this gauge with back-to-back measurements, and it was accurate every time. You won't regret this purchase...
Maybe a unit that uses lithium or other long-lasting batteries would be better.
Next time, i think i will try one of the better, more-expensive units.
However, within 5 months, the plastic part of the gauge that you put onto your tire had deformed to the point that it would no longer take a reading from a tire. I do not work at a mechanical shop, and I have one car and I had taken a reading about once a week for 4-5 months.
I would not recommend this product.
It disappointed me a bit that I ordered two, at the time, (one for me, too) and only one of them worked. However, they are cheap. I didn't worry about it too much. I gave my kid the one that worked.
This evening I drove my son's car for the first time in a while. We got his Mom a new car a couple of months ago. He's stepped up into her old 2005 CRV, and has been taking care of it himself. The steering was heavy - as if the front tire pressure was way too low. I asked him about it and he agreed that it didn't seem quite right but he was certain that the tires had adequate pressure. He's been using the gauge I gave him. When we got home, we checked. We used his gauge, and then double-checked with the one I'd kept using (an older dial gauge that I trust).
They disagreed by seven pounds. This 'Accufire' read way too high, and I put it in my son's hands, leaving his tire pressure over 20% too low. He sometimes takes this car on very long drives to visit a girlfriend who's at a college hours away. I feel pretty stupid and am really glad we caught this before something bad happened. There is some odd tire wear, but it isn't too bad. I feel like a fool. That's the worst of it.
Needless to say, I would not touch another product from this company with a ten foot pole. He has my dial gauge now. I've come b Amazon this evening to shop for a replacement for me, and thought it worth sharing our experience. If you buy one of these, please don't give it your trust, and particularly not to someone who trusts you implicitly, before comparing its readings with other gauges.

It is very hard to get a pressure reading without letting out a fair amount of air. Maybe it is just me, but I had a hard time manipulating it on to the valve. Read morePublished 10 hours ago by mark7432
Does the job, nothing fancy. Is kind of awkward to hold depending on where the air stem is.Published 2 days ago by horsedreamer72
