According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), under-inflated tires are the leading cause of tire failure, which accounts for 660 fatalities and 33,000 injuries each year.
With many drivers planning road trips, Accutire wants to remind travelers to follow a three-point checklist that will help maintain optimal safety on the road and help the environment by increasing fuel efficiency.

Pressing it on the tire stem is effortless, and there is virtually no air loss when you press it in place, and remove it. The reading agrees with that on my wonderful Goodyear i8000 120-Volt Direct Drive Tire Inflator, but the precision of its readings is probably a good deal better.
I like to inflate my tires about one pound too high, and then use the pressure gauge, pressed against the valve stem needle, to release the extra air until additional measurement with the gauge yield the correct pressure. There is no little nib for releasing air built onto this gauge, but edge of the black plastic nipple that surrounds the valve stem works just fine for this purpose.
This gauge is so much better than the mechanical style gauge that I can see why the leading consumer magazine gave it a top rating.
No more. With a DIY rubber gasket, this thing functions perfectly. Can't be happier. The air leakage problem was eliminated in such totality that at first I even doubted if my gauge was still working at all because of the newfound total silence was so unfamiliar and felt surreal.
Find one of your unused in-ear earbuds' silicone/rubber heads, cut a thin piece off the inner tube. See photos. Place it inside the tube of this gauge. No need to glue it. It will stay in place after one use. Voila! Experience the heavenly seal.
There is a lot of debate over digital vs analog when it comes to gauges. It seems that both work for the most part, and unless you're a professional driver or just really anal about your tire pressure, either option should work. I went with digital primarily because it's easier to see at night. And because I'm a little lazy and wanted to make this as easy as possible. Especially when those air machines only give you 3 minutes to fill up the tires before having to throw in more quarters.
So far it's worked flawlessly. I really like the design which makes it easy to hold and get a firm grip. It registers a reading quickly so you can don't have to waste much time. I think for the price it's at (just over $10), it's a worthy investment. Not just for safety reasons, but you'll pay it back in short time in gas savings alone. And you also won't wear out your tires sooner than they need to be.
First of all, mine DID NOT come with any batteries. And certainly not rechargeable ones. I have actually been through 3 sets of batteries now (watch cell style, as it shows inside the battery compartment). The thing keeps draining them. I will use it once or twice, then a week later, use it again. And boom - dead.
Maybe I just got a dud. Or a used one. I don't know. But mine was crap.
This is the best digital tire gauge I have ever come across. This Accutire model came highly recommended from reviewers and that is why I eventually bought it. It features an easy to read red digital readout that gives accurate 0.5lb increments and the readings take less than a second to register. The tire valve/gauge seal is great, the rubberized handle easy to grip (even with gloves) and the size fits nicely in a glove compartment. After three years of nearly monthly readings on all my family's cars, I'm yet to replace the batteries. This is the third digital gauge I've owned; the first one was worthless trash and the second was ok but not particularly well made or durable. The third time was a charm with this rugged Accutire model. I highly recommend this gauge for anyone who checks tires regularly, and it is a good idea to check them regularly for safety, tread wear and gas mileage purposes.

Is it accurate? Not really sure how I would determine that.
