After buying a lot of inaccurate tire gauges (especially the digital ones), we found a review on Consumer Reports that recommended this one. Bought 3 -- all 3 gave the same tire pressure when I tried them out on a tire. Accidentally dropped one on the pavement, then it flipped into the sand/gravel. Blew the sand out of the nozzle and it worked just fine. I don't recommend dropping it into the sand of course, but CR did say it held up well to being dropped and that seems to be true.

1. Non-replaceable battery. WRONG. Battery is replaceable, package states "One CR2032 Lithium Battery (replaceable)". I remove one small screw, removed the battery cover, replaced battery, not a problem.
2. Doesn't fit tire stem, leaks air. WRONG. It fits car and truck tire Schrader valve stems perfectly because the stems are all the same size. Simply, grip the pistol grip gauge, like a pistol, line up the gauge to the valve, press, and no leak.
3. Not accurate. WRONG. Have 4 MS-4400B, and also a $70 professional grade mechanical gauge. All 5 match the same pressure on the same tires, all the time.
As incredible as it might seem, it appears that some people are unable to master the use of a tire gauge. Good grief.

I've had one of these for over 15 years, with the same battery. It works great. I needed another tire gauge so I got a second one. The newer version has larger numbers but still works the same. The battery is replaceable on these, if it's ever needed.

Piece of junk. Won't fasten onto the tire's valve stem - - just releases the air from the tire and doesn't register the pressure (that used to be there). I've purchased several items via Amazon.com, and this is the only one that's been a big disappointment.

Despite what the package claims these do not last very long. The battery died in about a year. Even though it is not intended to be replaced I was able to replace the battery a couple times before the gauge failed. Each battery lasted roughly one year. The gauge lasted about 3 years. I would have preferred to spend a few more dollars on one that would have lasted.

I have had this gauge for a couple of years but had noticed significant differences between it and other gauges. Recently I did a comparison between three gauges including a certified master gauge in a tire shop. My gauge was reading 4 psi too low - a significant deviation for a 32 psi nominal pressure.

The display is nice and big, but if you don't hold it just so when you put it on the valve stem, you will get a "00.0" reading. It took me several tries on one tire, by which time the pressure in the tire had probably dropped 2 or 3 pounds. Looking in the nose of the gauge, it looks like if you don't have it lined up just so, it might not get a good contact. On another tire, I got a reading right away. Oh, and if you are left-handed, you won't be able to see the display unless you hold it with your right hand!

It worked fine until the battery died. Then I found out that's designed to be disposable. I actually disassembled the unit and got a battery from Radioshack, but oh surprise, the unit didn't work anymore.

Don't buy disposable units. Pay a little bit more and get something that will work for many years.
