Aesthetically, like most cheaper swords, knives, daggers, etc. that I come across, I'd recommend these. If practice is your goal, either use these as strictly beginner wooden swords, or opt for some pricier, more solid ones. The remaining wood one that didn't break now hangs on my "Wall of Blades" as I like to call it, a somewhat proud, and still rather attractive piece to my collection.
In practice, they swing comfortably and have a reasonable balance. They feel about as alive as you can expect from wood. I recommend them for practicing cuts in the air and forms. They might be okay for striking a matted target, just expect them to break after a thousand strikes or so. So if you are serious, you might have to buy a new set a couple times a month....
UPDATE- We have used these swords for over a year now, and they are still going strong. I have to reglue the wrapping on the handles every once in a while, but the wrappings are especially appreciated in the summer when it is hot and muggy. I've had wooden handled swords slip out of my grip during a swing because of the sweat.
