Only been using it a few days but the battery life seems to be easily in excess of 5 hours with a mix of browsing, listening to streaming music and watching small amounts of video. It is very light and compact and seems well constructed with a nice patterned finish that looks very smart compared to glossy surfaces that show every mark.
Another review points out the trackpad is very small. I agree with this and it does take some getting used to, especially since it is difficult to see the edges of it thanks to the seemless design. It is hard to see how it could be any bigger without making the keyboard smaller, and the keyboard is great because it has full sized keys. So I think the trackpad is the only thing that might not be good for some people. One alternative would be to use a small wireless optical mouse.
All-in-all a great little laptop.
I will buy another one if this one goes. The battery does last about 7 hours+
The size and weight makes this laptop amazing for commuters or travelers.
-I can easily put it in my purse or backpack and not feel like it's weighing me down.
The cover design makes it harder to get fingerprints and so forth.
The keyboard is actually pretty good.
-I did not have any problems using the keyboard but it could be because I have small fingers and using the arrow keys weren't a big issue for me.
The battery life can easily last 6-8 hours without using the AC adapter with the given battery.
The VGA port is easy to use and it helps me present in-class projects with slideshows or videos etc.
While watching HD movies, the quality is amazing.
-I can easily watch action movies at 720p and it captures the colors and details very well for an 11.6" screen.
Video streaming is fast such as watching youtube videos at 720p, I try not to use 1080p because the notebook becomes slower to load and the video quality is about the same for the given screen.
Multitasking is smooth and I can watch youtube videos, write papers, go on skype, check email all at the same time without having to worry about it unexpectedly shutting down.Read more ›
This is a great little notebook. I bike to work and was looking for a small/light notebook that could handle photoshop and web development. I considered getting an 11 inch macbook air but after testing one it was too slow and cost double over this machine.
The build quality is ok and the machine looks good. The screen lid is metal and has a cool grated texture pattern on it. The track pad is small but works fine. Battery life is pretty good at around 5 hours or so.
The Asus UL20 has nicer build quality but weighs about a pound more which was a deal breaker for me.
For a short stint at work I had to use this as a primary machine. It actually worked out fine with dual 24inch monitors hooked up with an external keyboard and mouse. The primary display ran on the HDMI port with a DVI adapter cable and the second display on a usb DisplayPort adapter. Full screen flash ran fine on one 24inch display with the cpu sitting around 25%. The Eclipse/Android development software kit runs fine on it. The phone simulator was kind of slow with the stock hard drive.
Ubuntu runs fine on the notebook. There is one broadcom driver that you need to blacklist for the wifi card. After that wifi was solid and worked great. The trackpad worked good in ubuntu but as of 7/11 side scrolling is broken. Kind of a deal breaker for me. That being said ubuntu booted, hibernated and slept without any issues.
For kicks I threw in a SSD drive from another notebook and just put a order in for 8gb of ram. The stock 3gb runs fine out of the box so if you are not using photoshop no need to upgrade.Read more ›

La computadora es buena para cualquier uso excepto juegos y/o graficos potentes, lo cual es un poco decepcionante, deberia venir con una tarjeta de video superior a la que tiene.Published on September 6, 2011 by Santiago

Replaced the 1 year old netbook with the ever slow Atom processor running XP. The Acer is not much bigger, and is actually thinner. Runs quick too! Read morePublished on June 14, 2011 by Wes
