- Lighting fast
- USB 3.1 C charging. Instead of the 19 volt charger as most have you can use any standard USB 3.x C type charger. If you use an adapter on a "older" USB charger it will not charge as fast but will keep it up and running. But, you can still run your chromebook on any kind of extra battery pack via the USB 3.1 C connector. Its very handy. Previously if I was running low on battery there had to be a wall plugin available. Now only a USB port is needed (at minimum).
- Long battery (longer than my other two)
- Screen is very clear
- Screen is somewhat matte so its not very reflective (which I like)
- Lighted keyboard. Very handy.
- Spill proof
- Using a Dell D3100 docking station works wonderful. Enough computing power to run two giant monitors (and the chromebook screen if you need).
- 8GB RAM to account for the new Google Play/Android compatibility.
- Officially on the list to receive the Andriod support in 2016/2017.
- Citrix Receiver actually works now (as of a few days ago) to make for a great remote laptop.
- seems the full brightness of the screen is less than my other two chromebooks. I think this would only come into play when outside or near a big window.
- cost. It does cost more than your average chromebook (of course, its not as much as the Google chromebook).
- Glass Cover - the glass cover, while looking nice, seems a bit much. To me it makes it more susceptible to breakage. But, that's just me...
The specs for a Chromebook on this device are a bit more than the average user may need, but I know Google is bringing the Play Store to ChromeOS later this year; the addition of such apps will require additional space and power, which I'll need.
Sidenote: I haven't really had major issues with fingerprints on the glass lid like I thought I would; cleaning it is pretty easy. If you do have fingerprint issues, you probably have some hygiene issues.
Just post a question on my review and I'll reply back when able.
~connectivity - two usb ports and one usb-c port, a hdmi port and a full size sd card slot. This thing is packed. i really wish it had a usb-c on both sides of the laptop to make being tethered to a power cord much feasible. And the powercord has a decent sized power brick. Not too heavy though
~Screen - Looks great, very clear and the brightness with i believe is about 240nits shows well, without being underwhelming in bright rooms. the matte finish is awesome for reducing reflections from lights which always drives me nuts with glass screens.
~Keyboard - The key travel is about medium overall, its maybe a tad shallow personally id like a little more movement, it reminds me of 2012 macbooks since i had that as my previous workhorse. they move with adequate pressure, without wiggling side to side, stable and good feeling keys. Also the backlight has several brightness levels which is great, it stays on each keypress for roughly 35 seconds each time.
~track-pad - Not great, response is decent for scrolling and tasks that aren't too precise but when trying to close windows down. i find that my finger doesn't always glide over the surface since its not super smooth, so my finger will jump or skip at points as i push it across the track-pad and takes more effort to do certain selections. second quirk is the very far left corner of the track-pad is somewhat loose and moved up and down about .5mm or so. In actual use this creates a problem. You get the feeling your actually clicking the mouse pointer and nothing happens because it feels like its actually clicking all the way down, then you realize you need to push harder and click it works. Poor quality control there in my opinion. also the top half of the track-pad is on a hinge, so it doesn't click only the bottom half moves. i dislike this design but takes a bit getting used to for a mac user.
***EDIT*** Date: 8/21/2016, i decided that the track-pad must be defective after researching more, and exchanged the unit for another on amazon, i didn't want to initially i figured id get used to it but i was very wrong it made me start to dislike using the laptop over time. The good news is the replacement has NO SUCH problem and so far its perfect. The track-pad performance also is a bit better and i notice much less loss of response when scrolling from one side of the track pad to the other.
~speakers - sound is great, its quite clear both mids and highs, little to no bass can be felt but this is normal for a laptop. i
~performance - Everything runs flawlessly aside from a random stutter (probably chrome related not the cpu) i have no fans kicking on during wifi browsing or movies, either that or i cant hear them. However the Fan runs full speed in sleep mode for a little bit, and continuously during charging. Not sure why but i assume its fast charging creates heat.
~battery life - so far I'm very happy with the battery life, it lasts a long time (8+ hours) during use, brightness set to 50% and mixed use of youtube and web browsing. It doesn't match the claimed 10 hours in reality but glad its still above average.****EDIT**** in reality i am getting more like 6-7 hours of heavy usage. So its not the greatest when your doing things other than Documents etc. I watch yourtube clips alot and your see your estimated time plummet quite quickly
