- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2025Good morning sir have used it for years
- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2015This is a great monitor! Colors are vivid and accurate, definitely HD quality, and the 19.5" screen has dimensions equal to an HD TV, so watching movies through it is just like watching a small TV, meaning that a wide full screen movie has no black bars.
Although the stand is a little too shaky, the only thing I absolutely despise about this monitor is it has two splash screens from a cold start, one advertising Acer followed by a second one for its "Energy Star Rating". The combination of those two will stay on the screen so long that my computer passes totally through the BIOS phase before dropping out, and there is no option for changing that. (I don't need to be reminded that it's made by Acer, nor do I give a damn that it's energy efficient! It's RIDICULOUS!)
So in summary, if a 19.5" monitor is big enough for you (I don't want anything bigger), and if you can put up with its splash screens, I highly recommend this one. (Note: Try setting the brightness and contrast both to zero in the monitor then do the adjusting with your video drivers. I think you'll find that is the best way to achieve personal settings.)
Good luck!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2016Well packaged and very clean and crisp out of the box. Assembly was as easy a tightening a few screws. No problems there.
The colors are clear and vivid. Looks great whether I'm using it to browse the internet, watch Netflix or Youtube or just using it for working at home.
EDIT: The issue I mentioned below was not an actual issue. I realized that I could simply hold the base while grabbing the monitor and tipping it myself. Took minimal effort and now it looks great! Changed my review to 5 stars once I realized my dumb mistake!
The only issue I have is how it leans downward. I attached everything correctly and when it sits flat on the stand, there is a slight dip downward to the screen. I have to lay it on top of a book and then add a small trinket underneath the base to get it to lean perfectly forward. There isn't a way to adjust it upward, unfortunately. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2020It does what I need it to do; it's a replacement for the one that came with my desktop. I wouldn't want to use it for gaming or working in an artistic field, but I need it for casual web-browsing, emailing, and office applications, so .. meh. This one has a slight yellow tint to it, which is odd, but not a deal breaker, and who knows?, maybe it will counter-act that blue-light strain? It really isn't enough to bother me. All pixels reported for duty, so I'm good.
I don't think it's a good bargain though. It's the exact same monitor I got with my pc over 8 years ago and they wanted over $60 for it. At this point it should only cost around $40, especially since it lacks in quality, but it looks as if $60+ is about as low as they go. Hopefully it lasts as long as its predecessor which started going white all along the left side a couple of months ago.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2016Now at one month after purchase and use, Acer G206HQL bd 19.5-Inch is proving a good choice for computer monitor, technology (1600 x 900 VGA and DVI) and price-wise. By following Acer setup comments, it has not presented any "tilt" issues. More details might have been provided for the setup for the base.
Exceptions: Although the screen is matte or anti-glare, the black shiny frame around the screen is not.
When the monitor is first turned on, there appears an Acer Logo whose letters are present jagged. It is assumed that is an Acer designed in logo effect since the display that follows is perfect.
Note: The Acer warranty for its monitors is 3 years (confirmed by Acer in general and for this particular monitor). So, it is not clear why the Amazon description for this monitor is 1 year. Also, although the Amazon description calls this a LED Computer Monitor, Acer documentation calls it LCD. The Amazon packaging and delivery time for this purchase from it was excellent.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2015I got this monitor in part because it is lightweight which is important for my application (traveling in an RV). It's about 5 lbs and is trim so stows away easily. It's plenty bright and has a full sRGB color gamut. My reason for downgrading it is that the 1600 x 900 resolution is annoying. Editing photos and such is okay but doing any kind of text work is annoying due to the very granulated fonts. I have monitors with not much higher dpi that do far better. I'm not sure what the problem is, maybe the "pixels" are small for the area they cover, but the fineness of text is below par for 1600 x 900 and 19.5 inches. If my judgement is misguided and this is simply what you get with 1600 x 900 on a 19.5" display, then be forewarned that you will see a lot of dots making up characters and not solid black characters as you might be used to on a higher res monitor or a 1600 x 900 laptop with a screen smaller than 19.5".
UPDATE:
While I am still disappointed with this monitor, I did experiment with the controls and improved the text rendering noticeably. I had previously increase contrast hoping for darker fonts and that did not work. On a lark I tried reducing the contrast and darned if that didn't help. I ended up with the contrast down in the 10-20 range. This reduced brightness so I pushed the brightness up into the 80's (though too much brightness reduces the benefit of these settings so set it at minimum for comfortable viewing (the eyes compensate well for low brightness so start on the low side). After making these changes, I re-did my clear-type settings to take advantage of the changes and that was more effective than earlier with the default contrast setting (50). There are 19.5" monitors with 1920x1080 resolution (about 20% more than this one) for about the same money. That should help some. ISP monitors (better for photo editing) in this size are few and far between but that feature is also on my wish list.
